Friend and business associate attended practice yesterday. Said that the O worked on wildcat package for a little bit. The QB was Mr. Kenyan Drake. That could be a very exciting scenario.

I love the idea of at least showing it in this game and forcing future opponents to prepare for it, too.

Eh, it worked for Ingram in several games in 2009, but was totally ineffective in other games and for all of 2010. There's a reason teams stopped running the Wildcat a few years ago.

Having KD at QB with Henry coming in motion is going to create some problems for opposing defenses. It also requires them to spend time preparing for it and puts unique pressure on players to have gap and assignment discipline.

They may not even use it, but I like that it is a possibility and could see it resulting in a few big plays.

You mean the wild Hog or the wild frog, wild dawg, wild cock, wild yadda-yadda-yadda. Its basically the option without the option.

if anything, we should try Stewart back there. He has experience at QB.

The only way it ends up in a big play is if Drake can pull up and throw down field.

Without a throwing threat back there, everyone just loads up the box. It's pointless unless you can throw out of the formation.

There are tons and tons of options now that are better than the wildcat. Teams just load the box. The o line still has to block like normal and without a threat to throw, it's pointless. Confusing defenses with motion and run pass options is way more effective.

Hell yeah, I'd love to see this on Saturday, but our Oline has to make damn sure to block correctly.

It's more effective if the defense doesn't really see it coming. Break the huddle like normal with the QB and KD in the back-field. If Coker is the QB, direct snap to KD and use Coker as the dive man/lead blocker. If Bateman is the QB, motion him out as a WR (remember he worked at WR in the spring). When they start really keying on the run, run the run/pass option with Bateman acting like he's blocking then releasing on a fly route.

Shotgun formation- Drake at QB, Henry at RB, Ardarius coming across for a speed sweep or fake.

Other than the USC 2009 game, I wasn't the biggest fan of the wildcat

It's more effective when you have mauling offensive linemen destroying a gassed defense running it with a Heisman winner.

It would be easy to run read option with KD at QB and Henry at RB as opposed to the old wild cat plays.

Catch the d in a dime look, keep them from subbing and pound it with a Henry/Drake option?

It works well bc the guy in motion takes handoff at full speed and the block doesn't have to be sustained for long for the runner to hit the edge. Like I said, maybe they won't use it, but they aren't practicing it for no reason.

Oh look, a douche. Bro, I'm not trying to be a "look at me guy", but check the history. I've been here longer than you just choose not to post as much as you apparently. If I have something I think the board will find interesting, I share it.

You may not know this, but bamasgot13 is not my real name, so it's not like I get any personal "credit" from sharing info. If it's a problem, I can just not do it. No big deal.

See, I think its a better option to snap it to Henry and have Drake as the running back. KD is better at getting to the outside quicker and I like DH better up the middle than KD.

Can either guy throw at all?

Bateman has worked at receiver. Put Bateman out wide, Stewart at QB, Henry at RB and Drake in the slot. A lot of options then, and Bateman isn't a wasted player like Coker would be.

This right here. Could be deadly if we are showing a Bateman QB normal look, and then HUNH into wildcat and starting running off a script
