I don't know how I feel about that. Obviously can call plays but recruits awful. With the talent here he would probably do very well but he wouldn't be my first choice.

He also hasn't coached in a few years. To me that means no on is interested and probably for a reason or he is holding out for HC gig. Neither options exude confidence to me.

I’m for it. That Florida offense he had with Tebow was a machine

Going back to the "failed HC with a lot of personal issues who had prior success as a playcaller" well again. Hopefully it works out as well as it did with Lane and Sark, but Mullen is such a fricking piece of shite I just couldn't feel good about this one even if I thought it was a good hire, which I don't.

I agree with what your saying but outside of Locks I don't think any of our OCs have been considered strong recruiters. Position coaches and Saban tend to the bulk of recruiting/closing across the offense and the OC tends to only be responsible for QB recruiting/coaching and managing the offense.

Coordinators recruiting should be secondary, the focus should be on their coaching ability.

He's been out of football for 1 season

Fudge he will just use it to get another head coaching job in two years. Damned this coaching carousel.

CJ Dippre follows him.

To be fair lot of players around the league follows him. I wouldn't read into it too much.

I saw that it was someone who's currently a OC that Bama is looking to hire...

on twitter. Also, on the other board, It has been mentioned Saban wants to go back to physical game, running the ball more and play action. Not sure if Dan Mullin is it. But he can definitely develop QBs, but i don't know if he's right fit for Simpson, Milroe etc.

I mean if anyone wants to know what a run heavy high efficiency offense looks like, just look to 2015. That was peak Bama ball IMO. Run was the forefront of the offense and the passing game was still pretty good.

I definitely think Mullen can help Milroe.

6 times over 13 seasons, a Mullen offense outranked a Bama offense in rushing attempts and yards per game. In 2013, MSU had more attempts per game, but Bama had a better yards per game.

From Alex Smith to Tim Tebow to Dak Prescott to Kyle Trask, how could neither of those QBs fit within that spectrum?

Out of all of them... is one currently playing?

Notice you mentioned 2013... that was long time ago.. this is 2022. Time changed so much with offense.

The offense he ran in 2013 ... and he was only one who had bama # but when he played others.. his team sucked

How is that relevant? That's two 1st Rd picks, a 2nd, and a 4th Rd pick who has shown he was at least worth more than his draft position.

Did...did you not read the entire thing? Even as late as 2021, a Dan Mullen offense outranked a Bama offense in rushing attempts and yardage. From 2017 to 2021, a Dan Mullen offense outranked a Bama offense in rushing attempts and yardage three times.

The coaching carousel gets old, but it looks like the alternative is to hire an inept coach nobody will hire away from you. I'm not sure stability is worth that alternative.
