From the Texas A&M game (October 22) to the end of the year - 8 games - our opponents offenses ran 532 plays. Those offenses were called for holding 1 time.

Nuts.

Sounds about right. I'm sure saban will send that info in. That's just blatantly ridiculous

It's stupid. We had some of the best pass rushers in the country and nobody ever held them.

1 holding penalty in 8 games! That's just absurd.

Now, part of it is the SEC just doesn't call very many penalties at all anymore, but still.

Combine that with the Opponents Penalties stat where we rank dead last and it's just crazy how the refs keep their flags in their pockets. Makes no sense.

Again, to avoid sounding like Stan White or an LSU fan, we won 26 straight games, there isn't a systematic conspiracy out there to bring us down, and the refs aren't the reason we lost, but that's just ridiculous.

Exactly. I hesitated to even post this, but with our defensive line that number is just nuts.

However, I did read an interesting tweet from Cole Cubelic that said that part of that is because our defensive line has such great technique that they avoid being held quite a bit. He said there are specific techniques taught to avoid getting mucked up in the line, and that our guys were the best he'd ever seen at that. He said it really negated the opportunity for offensive linemen to hold us.

Now, even with that, 1 hold in 8 games is stupid. Like, clearly officials just decided the burden of proof was almost unattainable.

.0018796992% avg holding call per game over 8 game span. Defensive Line Players were taught well then.
