In terms of Bama NCAA tourney history, where would you rank Nelson's performance?

Ron Steele had a fantastic game in a loss v. UCLA in 2005 or 2006 from what I remember.

It’s the best one I remember. I don’t remember Antonio’s from 30 years ago.
It wasn’t just the output (which was unprecedented) but all his shots were either high degree of difficulty or super clutch.
Nelson is the first player in college or NBA history to have 20+ points, 10+ rebounds, 5+ blocks, 10+ made free throws, 60%+ shooting, and made all his 3s.

Honestly, I'm convinced he intentionally missed the last two free throws to force the heave by UNC. That block was fantastic.

Let's just say that he's gonna need a wheel barrow to carry around that giant set of testicles. He might also need a safety vest, but he's already got the hard hat.
Can somebody Photoshop Nelson's face on to this picture?

Was that the game where McDyess played with a mask on his face due to his nose being injured?

Maybe? Don't remember the mask, just remember he had something like 30 points and 20 rebounds. Wanna say he had 40 boards in the first two rounds.

Well there is absolutely no reason to miss the first one intentionally. Once he missed the first, the second one was probably a 50/50 call. Go up by 3 so you can't get beat by the 3 point miracle no matter what? Or miss to force a catch and heave full court shot and eliminate any risk of an organized inbound pass and shorter shot. I think I like the intentional miss with less than a second to go like that.
I'll say this for Nelson's performance. I've never seen 1 half like his second half by a Bama player in the tournament and can't remember any off the top of my head by any player in the tournament although there probably have been some similar. He completely dominated the extended crunch time of that game. He's cemented as a Bama legend after last night.

Agreed. Letting them inbound opens the door to Laettner shenanigans. A full court one handed heave really has no chance.

You're the fricking man! Thanks! I'm gonna get a lot of mileage out of that one.

Given the ESPN charts and data that have come out placing him in rarified air coupled with one of best games in terms of presence on both sides of the courts I've ever seen, I'd find it hard to argue it wasn't the best single Tournament game ever by an Alabama player.
Long way from the crap some gave him during first round and closing out the season.

I think the second shot miss was intentional.
I did have a brief panic when he went to block their last second heave...a foul there from a mile away would have given them 3 free throws to possibly win the game with no time remaining. Only saw one angle on the block so I'm not sure how close he was to possibly even make contact. Would have been a brutal call and ending.

Don't know about a wheelborrow but he needs a large supply of condoms.

Nelson’s was the best I’ve ever seen. Especially in the last five minutes.
Jean Felix had a fun game in a first round win over Marquette where he made like 50 3 pointers.

I think McDyess wore the mask in the pros.
I lived in Baltimore during that tournament and went and watched the team practice. If I remember correctly, he had a pretty severe quad injury.
Dude was a player

He wasn’t close at all, and it might have been the highest he’s jumped all year.

I’d have Roy Rogers in there. Forget what year, but he had like 20 something blocked shots in 2 games. Don’t think we made it past second round that year though
