Nick Saban. Just because he doesn't care about basketball doesn't mean he doesn't care about football.

We got Saban in part due to Paul Bryant Jr., Angus Cooper, and several other BOT members taking the initiative. Sexton reached out to us long before Shula was fired. Mal played an integral part, but that was a team effort. I assume Battle would do what Mal did and fall in line.

For the sake of argument, if Battle approached that situation like he has done this one, then Shula would've been retained for another year, the 2007 season would've been a disaster, and we would've ended up with someone not named Saban. Meanwhile Mark Ingram, Julio Jones, and a majority of that 2008 recruiting class go elsewhere. That's why you make a move the moment it's pretty obvious things aren't working out.
