My guess is Vtech.

So many jobs opening up, and college doesn't recycle as much as the NFL does.

VT, USCe, and potentially even UGA could make it hard on him. Bud Foster use to be the heir apparent at Tech, but I think sticking with Beamer too long might have cost him that.

Vtech would be a great one if he could get the job. If he doesnt take a head coaching job maybe we just question if he really even wants one. Cant be too bad of a gig to be buffered from the media like he does under Saban and just concentrate on doing his job and still making a very, very fine salary.

EDIT: Admittedly i thought 1.2 M would put you up higher on the list than #68 on the list. Which strangely enough is a Notre Dame coach. I would have guessed 1.2 was top 35.

We probably lose both coordinators this offseason. Considering how well this defense is currently play, I doubt Kirby's stock will ever be higher. I feel like Lane is done too after this year considering the number of jobs open.

Napier gets promoted to OC IMO. I don't know about DC.

Davis or Tucker is who others think may be promoted.

Tucker does not have a stellar record as DC and I don't think Davis has any experience. I don't think those would be my first choices for replacements.

stellar or not in the NFL wont hurt him if he is the right man at Bama. IF he relates well and is a good recrutier I think he would be highly considered. Our DB's have sure gotten "gooder"

I could see Tucker being upgraded to DC. Kirby should go to a lower FBS school first before taking a big job at a good conference. Place like Virginia Tech expects 9 wins every year. I would think Bud Fosterr would get the nod over Kirby though, being there for as long as he has.

If Kiffin leaves, then we should look elsewhere. Someone like Clay Helton, if he doesn't get a HCing job.

If Smart leaves, I'd make a run at Derek Mason, if Vandy lets him go...but he probably gets another season at Vandy I'm guessin'...if he had an offense, Vandy would be competitive...

I'd trust Tucker at DC being that Saban is the coach

he was the co coordinator for the 2004 ohio state national championship, and was good enough to get hired as DC for 3 NFL teams. Hes a good coach. in the nfl you are stuck with the personnel decisions that are out of your control. Thats how saban ended up with daunte culpepper instead of drew brees. In college you can have a whole team of 1st round draft picks if you can convince them to come to your school

Almost no one is clamoring for a defensive HC anymore, especially one with no HC experience.

Only one DC was hired as HC at a FBS school last year, Pat Narduzzi at Pittsburgh.

CKS may be another exception, but he's not going to be at the top of the list at any of the top schools.

I hope not. He hasn't looked good at UGA.

Probably, so many solid head coaching jobs that fit his experience level out there, figure somebody will take a shot on him.

Va tech imo is perfect place for smart to find out if he is real. If so we bring him back in a few years and continue the dynasty
