I know it's not his style to have a farewell tour season where he announced it was going to be his last and I know the reasons not to do it, but I think I needed it for my own emotional health and gradual acceptance lol. This has been quite a week. But I'm glad he got to go out as still the King of the SEC... even if we couldn't quite get another NC.

yeah I was pissed about the Michigan game because I really wanted Nick to get one more before he retired. You could kind of tell the window was closing there at 72 and road is going to get tougher in the NIL and portal era.

What are the chances Alabama would have had a #2 recruiting class had the farewell tour happened? The way Saban handled his decision gave Alabama the best chance at a good transition (big piture view from a big picture guy like CNS).

He went out with a win against every sec team his last time facing them. Hard to beat.

Great point, but you can only wonder if the boys would have played 1 point harder in the UM game if they knew it was to send their Coach out a champion. Somehow I think they do.

Yes this is a big deal. Saban's last season was better than Bryant's last season.

We weren’t winning that game with Rees as OC and that’s on Saban. Staying with our center all year when he clearly had issues was also on the staff, maybe Saban should have stepped in and made the change.

I don’t think there’s ever been a coach to fully go out on top. At least not in the modern era. Maybe some have won and moved on to the NFL.

Saban, at 72, dragged this team kicking and screaming to an SEC championship over the team that was supposedly the new dynasty and we were in position to win the game that was the de facto National Championship.

We fell a little short and that’ll happen sometimes. I hate to lose, but I guess if we never lost then there wouldn’t be a reason to watch. That loss stung for days. Then coach retired and it mattered a lot less
