First Bama has to handle business with UGA, of course. But let's assume they jump OSU, UGA, and the Pac12 loser, that leaves Michigan and FSU.

The likelihood of Michigan losing to Iowa is quite low. In reality, if Bama handles UGA, they really need Louisville to knock off FSU.

Forgot Texas. If Texas slips, that would be a factor as well. But OSU is baby soft and a very low probability also.

The SEC champ, who will probably finish with the hardest SOS when all is said and done, will be in. Period.

If it is Bama, it will probably vault Texas in as well when they win - because you can’t justify them being left out when they beat Alabama.

Michigan will easily be in.

That leaves the others - Oregon/Washington and FSU - fighting for the last spot. I think FSU will be out - they are not the same without their QB.

It is supposed to be about the best teams - not records.

Just my 2 cents.

My 2 cents are probably worth less than yours, but here goes...

Agreed.

I disagree. We played each other, that is all we have in common. Regardless of is often stated, Texas's schedule was not as difficult. Their one loss was to a team who has lost to Kansas and Oklahoma State and the CFP has bolstered them [Texas and Oklahoma] up.

Yes, Texas the will probably beat Oklahoma State in the Big12 Championship, taking down a 9-3, probably ranked 18 in the polls.

Meanwhile, IF and only IF, Bama beats a #1, unbeaten Georgia team in Atlanta, our path w/ Texas will diverge.

Michigan will easily be in.

They still have to get passed Iowa in the Big 10 Championship. They probably will, but stranger things have happened before in the Big 10.

ALL teams winning a conference championship will be given a preference, because it's another game.

As always, our mantra has been 'win-out', let the chips fall where they may. We've needed UGA to be unbeaten until we faced them... they are.

If we can't play for a natty, then let's take the SEC with us.

I'm not worried about FSU. The committee should put Bama in ahead of them.

So you have Michigan and Washington in if they win, and that's fine.

So there's 2 spots. If Bama wins you'd have:

13-0 FSU
12-1 SEC Champ Bama
12-1 SEC loser UGA
12-1 Big12 Champ Texas
11-2 Pac12 loser Oregon

In that case Bama is in as the 4th seed at worst. FSU winning a weak conference without their best player isn't getting in over a 12-1 SEC Champ.

If we beat the dog shite out of Georgia.... or even just beat them, I am going to be -extremely- pleased with this season no matter what happens after that. I'm already happy as hell. Even if we lose the next 2.

I cannot believe this team turned around like this. I never EVER would have bet we would have only had the one loss so far.

This has been an incredible season, and the Auburn game cemented one of my top 5 favorite moments as a fan. It's a personal thing. I know there have been objectively greater moments, but I'm 41 and that win was so beautiful. We NEVER beat Auburn that way. They always voodoo our asses. I had 0 faith.

I really hope we just stole some part of their peace. Those boogs HAVE to know they always have the ball bounce their way, essentially literally, ALL THE TIME in close games. I hate that. We may have 100x more blowout wins, but those aren't the ones that stick with you. You can accept your fate when you know you deserve to lose. It's the magical ones that stick. And Auburn fans have had a gluttonous share of those vs us.... and now I'm just ranting on the Auburn win.

If we're out of the title hunt if we beat UGA, then so be it. That's not in my power, and it will only fuel our odds next year A LOT. They can't do that to us twice in a similar scenario.

We have had an embarrassment of riches since Saban arrived here. I am at peace.

There's nothing weird about Louisville beating FSU. That's all it takes.

Well said and I totally agree. But come Saturday Dec 2nd you better believe it’s the biggest game of the yr in college football.

And you better damn well believe this playoff committee is pulling for Uga to win. Shouldn’t be that way, but that’s the way it is right now. This committee has back their self into a corner with their playoff standings.

But you will never convince me if this Bama team beats the best team in the country for the last 2yrs in their own backyard and going undefeated in the toughest conference in the country with one of the toughest schedules in the country that they haven’t earned a right to be in the playoffs is pure horseshite. But this committee is probably shameless as it gets and so far it’s leaning that way.

But yeah… if they beat Uga Saturday and get left out I’ll be at peace with it myself because this game is for all the marbles. Just beat the dogshit outta them and call it a day

Your entire premise is false because really only one of the following favorites need to lose for Alabama to be in; Texas, FSU, or Michigan.

I got uga, Oregon, tejas, and FSU all losing.

Michigan
Washington
BAMA
Uga
BAMA vs Wash in the Rose Bowl?? Sounds good to me. But then again, so does NOLA.
BAMA vs uga in Houston for all the marbles in Jan.

The biggest issue with the rankings is the fact that ESPN needs ratings. Releasing rankings each week in Nov is what is hurting us now. They put Oregon ahead 4-5 weeks ago and now we can't jump because Oregon hasn't lost.

If they released the rankings on the final day and that's it then the committee could truly rank the teams...but now they have to worry about how far teams can drop and rise.

If Bama manages to win on Saturday, they will have the No. 1 SOS in college football and will have just beaten a team that has been undefeated for nearly three years. If the argument is that that team isn't one of the four best currently playing, then the committee will have lost it's mind.

Oregon currently has 1 win against a top 25 team (Oregon State). Even if they beat Washington, they'll have a a fairly equal loss, not as good of a win and an easier schedule.

Florida State is the tough one here. They definitely aren't the same team as they were a couple weeks ago. Can't leave an undefeated team out, but they simply aren't one of the four best teams playing right now. They also only have 1 win over a top 25 opponent, LSU. FSU has managed to avoid all of the decent ACC teams this year. UNC and NC State weren't on their schedule and somehow, to this point, they have only had to play 1 team that's in the top 5 of the ACC.

There are a lot of teams that have been the beneficiary of extremely soft schedules this year; and a decent opportunity for some to lose.

Yall can keep making SOS arguments all you want, but everyone already understands why WE think Bama should be in. But, so far, none of that has mattered to the committee, and I have to assume they know about it too.

They are waiting for it to work itself out before they have to make the tough/controversial decisions. Most years it manages to do that and it simply becomes academic.

End of the day, if we win, no one else in the land will have beaten the reigning champ. The key is, to actually beat the reigning champ.
