This would be perfect. Friday before A&M game. But I also think it'd be good to let them scrimmage that Saturday morning assuming the game is at 2:30. Very excited for this season and plan on making the trip down.

I've been in the past, though it's been a few years. Middle of Gottfried's tenure was probably the last time I've been. Probably pass this year though. It's good that they're doing it during a football weekend though so hopefully more people show up.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The men's and women's basketball teams will welcome in the upcoming 2014-15 campaign with a special fan-friendly event: Hoops on the Quad presented by Alabama Power. The event is a first of its kind at The University of Alabama that will take place on The Quad on Saturday, Oct. 18, at 11 a.m. CT, prior to the Alabama-Texas A&M football game that has been scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. CT kickoff. "We are looking forward to bring in the new season with this type of event," men's basketball head coach Anthony Grant said. "For us to showcase both the men's and women's basketball teams in an atmosphere like The Quad prior to a football game is exciting for not just the fans, but for the coaches and players alike. We look forward to seeing the best fans in the nation next Saturday afternoon." "We are so excited about taking part in a preseason event like this right in the heart of our campus," women's basketball head coach Kristy Curry said. "Fans will have the opportunity to get an early glimpse of the teams in a fun and energetic atmosphere, and I think this is a great way to help tip off our season." The 1 hour event will be held on a special outdoor court and showcase both the men's and women's teams as they participate in a variety of activities that is sure to be entertaining for fans. Among the list of activities are a special team introductions, skills competition, a three-point shootout, a brief scrimmage and other surprise entertainment. How would it not work out well? The football game is at 2:30 so the quad will be buzzing at 11. I love it

You're right, for some reason I was thinking students would be leaving early to go to the game, but of course I'm wrong. Should be fun.

Would've preferred a Friday night event, but I will check this out. Gonna be interesting to see how they set it up.

I want to see the confused look on some people's faces who see this on the quad and have no idea what is going on.

the right side of the quad is always reserved for big events. They will have plenty of space.

Can t make it but glad they are doing it

It was a fairly fun event for the players it seemed. There is no doubt how athletic our guys are. Mitchell surprised me with the athleticism he showed. The scrimmage they did was nothing more than every guy jacking up 3s and cool dunks. Other than that, there was nothing much to take from this event. Hopefully it helped recruiting though. It was a decent turnout for the event.
