This al.com article ( Najee Harris, Tua Tagovailoa flying to Alabama together, report says) has more about it, plus a link to a 247 article, including a response by Najee when asked about what Tua said.
quote:

Tagovailoa has also said this week that Harris is also his scheduled roommate in Tuscaloosa.

Tracked down for confirmation in the hallways of the Grand Hyatt hotel, Harris playfully said, “What flight? I don’t even know my flight.”

He comin' to Bama, y'all.

I was concerned about Harris coming with the depth we have at running back since we'll have everyone back next year. With Damien Harris, Bo, Emmons and Jacobs back where does Najee fit? Redshirt?

Depends on if he can come in and learn the protection packages. If he learns his assignments, he carves out a niche and steals a few carries from each of the other four. If he's as good as advertised his carries will grow throughout the season.

If not, he redshirts.

It's a real good bet that Saban has informed him that he'll play if he is proves himself. The blue chip running backs don't redshirt very often these days, and according to most recruiting pundits, he's the best, or at least him and Cam. If he thought he was going to be redshirted at Alabama, my guess is he'd be bound for Michigan.

It will, though, be interesting to watch. An embarrassment of riches, as they say.

Hard for me to see him red shirting. Who was the last scholarship RB we redshirted? I can't even remember. Pointless to redshirt Najee, no way he'd come back for a 5th year when he likely won't even be here for 4.

I think Eddie Lacy in 09 was the last running back to redshirt.

I don't think Saban has to work to hard to tell them that anymore. If there was ever any doubt, the guy under center right now should prove to the world that Saban promises nothing but will play the best guy at the position.

I honestly think that helps draw the really elite guys with a competitive fire. They think they're the best and are willing to work to prove it. The ones that go somewhere based on a promise or hope of immediate playing time are more likely to be the ones willing to take shortcuts - and you don't want those guys on your team anyhow.

Yeah, I seem to remember a story about AJ McCarron where he bragged about how he and Eddie "tore it up" on the scout team that year.

Pretty sure we redshirted both Kamara and Tyron Jones in 13.

I had a feeling this was going to backfire. He's NOT flying to Tuscaloosa with Tua.

It's one thing for recruiting sites and all the people from ESPN to 247,
rivals etc to want the whole high school recruiting thing to stay full of drama.
But it say a lot about the adults of today being real mentors for these kids.
Nobody from parent to his high school coach has said Ok that's really enough of self glory.
Shut it down.
We are teaching young kids to be so big headed and it's not like any kid is being rushed .
There recruited for years before they have to decide and I really hope this kid is worth all the drama.

Stop with that nonsense. It's HIS decision on where he wants to go, and he has the same amount of time to decide as everyone else. He hasn't sought attention.

After a report on Thursday morning that Alabama five-star commit Najee Harris wasn’t going to be joining fellow commit Tua Tagovailoa on the flight from San Antonio to Birmingham,

it appears he may have had another change of heart. The first flight report in “Najee Watch 2017” had Harris flying back to his home in California after the Army Bowl, but now 247Sports reports that he will indeed be flying to Birmingham, where he’d presumably leave to head to Tuscaloosa.
