TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The University of Alabama football team's annual Fan Day is set for Sunday, August 9. The Crimson Tide will hold an open practice in Bryant-Denny Stadium from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Players and coaches will be available for autographs immediately after the practice on the field at approximately 4:45 p.m.

Fans may enter the stadium beginning at 1:30 p.m. through gates 12 & 16 and occupy the lower bowl (sections A-N). The open practice, which is slated to start at 2:30 p.m., is scheduled to last approximately two hours. For security purposes, all items are subject to inspection as fans enter the stadium for both the practice and Fan Day activities.

I guess UA has done nothing to curb the "Running of the Gumps." Simple stuff like having a rule that kids (non-infants) automatically go to the front of the line, no running, and no camping out.

Its amazing to me how ignorant the school is to the perceptions created by Fan Day. All they have to do is change a few things here and there and suddenly its not a joke anymore.

I've been training for this all year, and McDonalds gave me the day off. I can't wait to get Saban to sign my arm, so I can take it to the tattoo parlor and make it permanent.

You'd think they would set things up so there wouldn't be a damn 100 yard dash to get to Saban. Have Saban's table set up right next to the tunnel that exits the stadium and have the line go from there.

I mean, its not that hard to fix this problem.

I want bookies outside the stadium with odds on who gets there first, who face plants, power walkers to runners, how many kids get knocked down.

Give me about 15 minutes walking the paddock and I can pick a winning pony out of that group.

The best was the fat gump, who had camped out for days, getting smoked by someone else despite having a near 40 yard lead.
