I can't wait for this season to be over. Is that bad for me to say? We have had so many injuries at so many inopportune times that it's not even funny. If we win on Monday night, this will be without a doubt Saban's best coaching job to date. So many key injuries suffered down the stretch and yet this team continued to fight on.

Agreed. As fun as this season has been watching this team play, it just seems like there's an injury every week popping up to crush my spirit

Alabama star Minkah Fitzpatrick visited hospital for injury
quote:

An injury during Alabama's victory against Clemson in the College Football Playoff semifinal forced Minkah Fitzpatrick to visit the hospital after the game, the Alabama defensive back said on Saturday.

Fitzpatrick reportedly bruised a kidney during the Sugar Bowl, but Alabama's star defender wouldn't confirm the injury during Alabama's national championship media day at Philips Arena. The Jim Thorpe Award winner did say, however, that he suffered an injury during the first quarter against Clemson and played through significant pain the rest of the game. While painful, Fitzpatrick's injury will not hold him out of Monday's national championship against Georgia at Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Fitzpatrick said he was "angry" that news leaked on Twitter about his injury.

"There are laws that say you aren't supposed to do that, and I was pretty angry about that, but I'm good," Fitzpatrick said. "I'm good and the team is good, so it's all right."

Fitzpatrick said his injury was caused by diving on the ground and making a tackle.

"I just fell awkward," Fitzpatrick said.

Fitzpatrick's injury is his second of the season and the latest incident in an injured-wracked year for the Crimson Tide's defense. Entering the College Football Playoff, eight would-be starters on defense missed a total of 40 games, according to Alabama's sports information department.

Fitzpatrick missed a game earlier in the season with a strained hamstring. He appeared to be completely healthy against Clemson, and played nickelback most of the game against Clemson slot receiver Hunter Renfroe. Fitzpatrick shut down Renfroe, who was Clemson's preferred receiving option on third down throughout the season.

Tide set to be without starting O-lineman vs. Georgia
quote:

Anfernee Jennings isn't the only Alabama starter set to miss the national title game on Monday.

Right guard Lester Cotton won't play due to a knee injury suffered during the Crimson Tide's Sugar Bowl win over Clemson, coach Nick Saban announced Saturday.

Senior J.C. Hassenauer, who started at left guard against both Mercer and Auburn, will likely start in place of Cotton.

Dylan Moses was back on the exercise bike today. Christopher Walsh is speculating that he won't play in the game.

Tony Brown did as well. He is playing his best football this year by far, so happy for him.

Notes from Alabama's final open practice of 2017 season
quote:

This is the last practice report of Alabama's 2017 season.

The Crimson Tide's Saturday afternoon practice inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta included the final practice media viewing period of the year.

Here are some notes from it:

-- Minkah Fitzpatrick was practicing. The Tide's star defensive back, who went to the hospital earlier in the week because of an injury he suffered during the Sugar Bowl, said earlier Saturday that he feels "great" and that he'll play Monday against Georgia.

-- Injured freshman linebacker Dylan Moses, who was in a black non-contact jersey, rode a stationary bike during the media viewing period. So did tight end Miller Forristall.

-- Right guard Lester Cotton, who won't play against Georgia because of a knee injury, was at practice in street clothes. It looked like J.C. Hassenauer was the first-team right guard during offensive line drills.

-- With Anfernee Jennings out, Christian Miller and Jamey Mosley were the first two in line for outside linebacker drills. Terrell Lewis was third.

-- New Alabama assistant Pete Golding watched Jeremy Pruitt and the inside linebackers during the media viewing period.

Wills is 5x the player that Hass is. Terrible decision to start him. I can only figure it is because Wills doesn't know the entire playbook. But watch for 74 to come in the game, or go back and watch the Sugar Bowl when he gets in. Wills destroys his man on most every play.
