I have a feeling that this team may shock some people. I'm not scared of having a new QB because the coaches will make the right choice and Kiffin will run an offense that they can manage but this defense may be scary good.

What are y'all's thoughts on this season?

What im not worried about.

OL
DL
LB
P
TE
RB (unless injury)

Moderately worried about.

CB
WR

Worried about.
QB
S
K

Really need 2 players to take over at Saftey. It just seems like we could have a carousel like the last 2 years at CB. QB could end up being fine we just dont know at this point and its such an important position its hard not to worry some.

Im sure we will be top 10 good, but this is Bama so thats not good enough for our expectations.

Here are some quotes Saban said today:

quote:

Aaron Suttles ?@AaronSuttles 5h5 hours ago
Nick Saban already in midseason quote form: "This has been one of the best groups of players that we’ve ever had to work with."

quote:

Nick Saban: We haven’t had a lot of issues this summer. They’re very dedicated with what they want to try to do.

quote:

Nick Saban: "That doesn’t mean we’re going to win a lot of games, but I certainly do think it’s a special group."

It sounds like Saban is trying to take the pressure off this group and just let them play.

I am more anxious about how the offense comes together than the defense. If we can get smart QB play, and get back to running the football then we are winning the title. We just have to get that nasty back.

TBH that wouldn't dissapoint me whatsoever. That means Sabans more confortable having the offense in younger hands, which will only help us in the future.

Nothing againts Coker, if he wins out great, but it would be nice to have a qb stick around for more than one year.

What I took away from those quotes...

Alabama is going to win the ship, or Saban is getting soft on us

It sounds like normal Saban-speak to me.

Over/under on the season is set at 10, imo.

This, but with that said last year's team overachieved. If this year's team doesn't make the championship game (and win it, honestly), they underachieved.

This is the kind of talk that drives Saban crazy, and rightfully so. While we may have as good or better shot than any team of doing that, it's still long odds. A team has to be good AND lucky to win a NC.

As far as this season... I can't decide how I feel about it. Leaving behind our smash-mouth style of offense still has me concerned. But that may just be the old man in me. If the O-line, DB's, and QB all fall into place and do well, it will be a good year.

It's almost impossible for Alabama to shock people to the upside any more. Even if not everyone is picking Alabama to win the national championship, most people are assuming Alabama will be right in the thick of it and certainly wouldn't be shocked if they won it all.

Possible but practice will decide it all.

I'm told right now 1a. Coker, 1b. Cornwell, 2a. Barnett.

WR corps is solid. Plus Drake has some packages as well.

S - We have Ronnie Football so I think we will be ok.

K - Well you are right about being worried there.

QB - We just need one that doesn't turn it over.

CB - Hopeful that they will be better with the 5*s and all

I have no idea what to expect this season. I wouldn't be surprised if we went undefeated and made the playoff. I also wouldn't be surprised if they lost 3 or 4 games. That is why I am really excited to see what this team does.

It's nice to see some optimism around here compared to last year when everybody already penciled in losses before the season began.

i have a feeling we are going to be very much better in the secondary. mel tucker is and has always been a fantastic secondary coach, and the dbs he coaches make plays on the ball (which is what we lacked last 2 years). He has a good mix of hyper talented young guys and also veterans who have played a lot of football. i think our defense is going to be sick, and im hoping with he way the online is looking (and with a new qb), we are going to put a renewed emphasis on running the ball hard. great defense plus commitment to running the ball is what got us 3 titles in the last 5 years. the schedule is brutal, but im hoping this team will be even more brutal
