Explain to me how this works, I'm hoping to get a message to our team before game time.

How in the frick do 7 of your defensive starters have a TD, that's honestly amazing. Hoping we don't help the other 4 out.

The defense is well-coached and everyone starts blocking and building a wall as soon as an INT/recovery is made. Watch how well the defense transitions to blocking after a turnover. I've never seen anything like it.

They run the drill in every practice like the poster above said.

First, send 3 elite pass rushers to force fumbles and bad throws by the QB. Second, have very athletic DB's in press coverage. Third, everybody block. Easy peasy.

Do you think the success of your team as a whole is more because of its athleticism(recruiting) or would you say it's the coaching?

Suppose your defense was made up of our athletes, or our defense was made up of your players...which one does better?

The blocking is a thing a beauty. The second the ball is turned over, everyone on defense runs to the nearest hash marks and starts cleaning up. It also helps that everyone on the defense is an absolute freak.

I think its coaching. All SEC teams have great athletes.
Bear once said "I can take mine and beat yours and yours and beat mine" or something similar to that.

Bit of both, but I'd say Saban butters his bread in more "off the field" areas. I think there are plenty better on field coaches out there.

The recruiting and the machine that is the football operations is second to none, though.

I think it is on account that our D has a little bit of Mississppi Leg Hound in it. I don't know if this will overly excite you Aggies, but it's best to just let them finish up if they lay into you.

I heard a lot of people criticizing Saban for getting on that players arse at the end of that Arkansas game, but it's the never ending quest for perfection that makes him so good.

Yeah he's made a habit out of doing stuff like that. Alabama fans love it. Opposing fans enjoy giving him a hard time about it on message boards. I think it's funny

At that point, he is no longer coaching the game being played...he is already coaching for the future. If that player can't get it right in mop up time, he can't be expected to get it in crunch time.

And i will add on to this. There are so many 4 stars out there and still quite a few 5 stars that its really not that difficult to get a loaded team that looks good on a recruiting sheet. Its not just about getting 4 and 5 stars but getting the right ones. This goes with going the extra mile in recruiting. Watching every play of their career to check consistency, going to camps to see how they match up against other elite talent and their personal drive, talking to people that know them to see how their character is. I think Saban has shown to do an excellent job at evaluating talent and when you get 4 recruiting classes in it really shows in the depth.

It helps that they're all NFL caliber talents.

"Bear once said "I can take mine and beat yours and yours and beat mine" or something similar to that."

Actually, it was supposedly said about Coach Bryant. I have read accounts of Bum Phillips having said it.

I'm pretty sure he was already coaching for the Tennessee game the next week. UT had shown a tendency to come back from behind, winning one game in overtime, one on the last play, and nearly another in overtime. We obviously precluded that from happening with the pounding put upon those vile Vols. That was a very satisfying game to watch.

I also think it is about calling plays that put our players in the best to produce and dominate. This is why you see Saban chew out Kiffin and Pruitt or whoever from time to time. Keep it simple and let the players talent come through. Many teams try and get to cute with their schemes and their players may not produce or it is to complicated.

Seems to me, the difference in years we win championships vs not, the players are completely bought in and coachable, not letting their talent supplant attitude.

Granted, they've won nothing yet, but this team is bought in and dialed up. Ronnie Harrison is the only one I worry about regarding attitude, but he's coming around. If Cam can stop with the false starts and Jalen gets a feel for the intermediate and long throws, I don't think there's a team in the country, even on their best day, that can beat them.

Looking forward to a great game between two great teams.
