Lane will smell blood in the water and go in dry on that soft arse defense.

Offense can't take quarters off in 2 weeks. Honestly, it's the first time in YEARS where it feels like Bama could be an underdog... won't be, but after watching that defense today it's the first time I feel uneasy going into a game in a long, long time.

Yea it's gonna be tough. We'll see how it goes.

I mean get used to it - that's how mortal offenses perform sometimes. They scored on 5 of our 9 possessions - 4 of them touchdowns and a 5th a drive that killed the clock and clinched the game. They did their job. They aren't the 2020 unit. Nobody is.

3 yards of offense in the second quarter isn't being mortal. It's being shite.

The offense scored 30+ pts, scored on 5 of 9 drives with 1 of those non-scores being a game clinching run out the clock punt drive. All of that in their first road game in a hostile place with new people all over the field and in the coaches box. So yea, I'm not planning on wagging my finger at the offense.

Meanwhile, the veteran laden unit on the other side of the ball had 3 second half possessions and gave up 3 touchdowns on drives of 75, 99 and 75 yards.

I feel like a lot of fans are missing this right now. We’re going to be good to great as long as Saban is around, but we lost 9 first rounders on offense the last two seasons. That’s a shite load of elite talent. We maintained a top tier offense last season because 5 of those first rounders were returning upperclassmen, including a seasoned QB. Bama has a lot of youth on the field this year and it shows. That doesn’t mean the talent isn’t there or we need to make wholesale changes to the lineup, but we are going to have let them develop. The only way to do that is game reps.

This is much more concerning to me right now than anything happening on offense.

I'm not saying the offense is the real issue... just that with the defense we have they're going to need to score on nearly every drive against good offensive teams like ole miss.

Also...not trying to get in position to score before the half with over a minute and timeouts almost came back to haunt us. Just not aggressive at all today.

And the counter to that development was that we'd have a veteran defense returning. That was the path for this team - young offense learning their way, veteran defense giving them rope to do so.

Honestly, if you told me our defense gave up 29 pts and got 0 second half stops before the game today I'd 100% tell you we lost.

I mean the defense had to figure it the fvck out. They're all experienced talented players. This season relied on them performing at a much higher level.

It's on their frickin shoulders and somebody had to step the fvck up.

They played really badly today. But I don't think its impossible that they get their shite together and play like the veteran unit they are.

The defense managed to turn it around last year and play really well after the Georgia game. I’m not sure what clicked for them, but they’re going to need as big of a turning point this year, if not bigger, if this team wants to be as successful as expected.

And Lane has 2 weeks to prepare for the Bama defense...not that he needs 2 days, much less 2 weeks.

Lane is so excited about this upcoming game.
He will make Golding look like an 8th grade substitute phys ed teacher.

I don't want to start a "Fire Golding " rant but our Def seemed to be pretty much the same the whole game. Rush three or four and not very many blitz's .Fla. quarterback had all day to pass.

Problem for Lane, Ole Miss, and Corral is they all have a history of being inconsistent. Lane gets cute with his play calling at times. Happened at Alabama too.

I hope he tries too hard again because I’m not too sure we can keep up in a shootout this time if he and Corral are on top of their game again. Our offense isn’t the heavenly perfection last years was and their defense (while not good) might be just bad as opposed to horrendously bad. But I’m sure Lane has this game circled on his calendar so not a good chance he won’t show out.
