None of the Husky 1st round draft picks were especially high ranked recruits. Does this indicate that Deboer is a good player developer or that he has an eye for diamonds in the rough?

I think both. But he also has a larger platform, and more access to talent, at Alabama. It bodes well in this new era.

Pretty safe bet CKD has a better eye for talent than any of us do. People forget, Coach Saban signed some guys that “the experts” (sarcasm) didn’t know or didn’t think much of. Josh Jacobs is one that comes to mind.

Saban also signed plenty that never saw the field. He was the best in an inexact science. There will be hits and misses. Overall, however, higher ranked recruits are better. Years ago, think Forrest Davis, star ratings were a crap shoot. I don’t think it’s finding hidden talent as much as some kids just maturing later.

Who knows. With all the offers we are throwing out I seems that we are offering guys that the staff already has relationships with rather than focusing on instate guys. I could be wrong tho. Dont see to much reports on instate guys.

Man, I’d hate see Grady NOT go to Bama. I know Bama can’t get ‘em all but I hate like hell to see Bama whiff on big time in state recruits.
