I have a feeling Dabo is going to make getting Tyson difficult.

NEW ORLEANS — It’s not a tradition at Bryant-Denny Stadium to take out your smartphone at the start of the fourth quarter, switch the flashlight on and wave it in the air. But that’s what happened at this past year’s Iron Bowl.

If you looked around 360 degrees, you’d see the entire stadium lit up with phone lights. Jordan Davis, a 3-star JACK commit from Southwind High School (Memphis) was one of the fans inside the stadium that day that was wowed with the sight.

“The whole stadium just glowed up,” Davis told SEC Country. “I didn’t know something like that could really happen. There were thousands of fans there, and the stadium was just glowing. I said, ‘This is it.’ I told my mom that it was the school for me, not just because of the glow but because of the atmosphere.”

?Although Davis says he’s 100 percent committed to Alabama, he’s still listening to other schools’ pitches. His mother has told him to keep his options open just in case something happens with the coaching staff. (Chris Kirschner/SEC Country)

Davis committed to Alabama two weeks after the Iron Bowl and hasn’t looked back since despite LSU and Tennessee trying hard to flip him from the Crimson Tide. He even got red braces to show his love for Alabama.

The 6-foot-5, 238-pound prospect says he’s 100 percent committed to Alabama.

“It’s so different from other schools, and I can tell you that for a fact,” Davis said. “It’s straight business there, and I love it. When it comes to football, it’s strictly business there and competing for national championships. I like winning.”

The nation’s No. 19 weakside defensive end says football in Memphis isn’t as popular as it is in Tuscaloosa. That’s one of the main takeaways he had on his visit to Alabama for the Iron Bowl.

“I want to be around people who love football,” Davis said. “That’s what I can get at Alabama.”

One of those passionate football guys at Alabama is outside linebackers coach Tosh Lupoi. Before competing in the New Orleans Opening regional earlier this month, Davis said he was a little nervous. He told Lupoi who, in turn, sent him a long paragraph through text and then called him.

Lupoi reminded Davis how good of a player he is and why the Alabama staff believed in him early on and accepted his commitment. Lupoi’s message to him worked. Davis was named one of the top 5 defensive linemen in attendance at the camp.

“He’s like a father figure and a brother to me,” Davis said. “Coach Lupoi is my hype man.

“Coming from my background with a single parent, it really means a lot to have his support. My mom does everything for me. It really shows me that I can have someone other than my mom to talk to about things. I know Coach Lupoi has my back.”

Davis uses that motivation of seeing his mother struggle to do what she can to provide for him and his little brother to excel on the football field. He says he dreams about walking across the stage and shaking the hand of the commissioner of the NFL on draft day every single day.

Seeing the success of several Alabama defensive players over the past few years has Davis believing that he’ll be able to accomplish his dreams.

“She gets so sick of it, but I mean what I say,” Davis said. “I’m supporting my mom, my little brother and my day 1 friends who have really been there for me. I’ve seen people go through the struggle, and I don’t like struggling.

“When I committed to Alabama, I knew that was going to end my struggles. Even though we have struggles every day in life, I knew committing to Alabama was going to help my future.”

Well our thread was 70 posts ahead of Auburn's, but we'll be behind again by the morning.

I think once spring game is over and everyone sees what the offense looks like and how well Jalen has or has not progressed will rekindle the enthusiasm for the recruiting thread. Face it you and about two others are the only posters with info for the most part anyway.

We need someone to commit on Aday. I'm wondering if we have so much talent that Coach is being extra picky.

On a side note, I suck at video games, but I really suck when I drink and play. It's amazing how bad I am

Can Alabama flip another Florida State commit in defensive tackle Robert Cooper?
quote:

It won't be as easy for Snellville, Ga., four-star defensive tackle Robert Cooper. But Alabama won't stop trying. The 6-foot-2, 369-pound Cooper rated Alabama's pursuit "a good nine" out of 10.

Cooper, the nation's No. 78 overall recruit and No. 8 defensive tackle, recently visited Alabama for a Junior Day and could come back for an official visit

They talk to me about) being that guy after Da'Ron (Payne) leaves," Cooper said. "They feel like I'm another Da'Ron strength-wise. They feel like I can have the same impact as him on the defensive line."

We already have a CB for him. Seeing as he is from Minnesota, I'm thinking it's a good thing the Minnesota mod was the one who put it in.

When I used to play Halo online I was a beast after 5-6 beers, but that dropped off quickly when I hit 8-9. Kinda like pool.

Compliments to our friends to the East for the next round of posts. Even though this was posted on an Auburn site, a lot of the information pertains to Alabama targets as well, along with a number of in-state kids.
