Lol you right. Give me some time to research. It is so hard to pick who we really want this early. Usually we know who we truly want by June or July to start. Then there become emerges later in he fall.

We offered a OLB yesterday:

Amari Gainer Highlights

Gainer visited for the Miss. St. game last season. Says all schools are even right now despite trending to FSU at 100 percent. His dad played WR for the Seminoles. He was supposed to visit for Junior Day last weekend, but had to reschedule.

I know. I used to keep a wishlist as my sig, but it got tedious after a while.

One of the Vols fans posted the gem I use now about Jeff Thomas.

Feels good to know Saban is 6-3 against auburn.

bullshite! He better get off his complacent arse and up that win percentage! If he thinks .667 will cut it against Auburn, he'd better think again. It needs to look like the TSIO series.

In all seriousness, I think nobody has exposed Saban's Achilles heel as a game day coach who struggles to adapt and adjust on the fly the way those shitkickers down at The Barn have. Even when he was at LSU, Saban had some of his toughest struggles with Auburn. I don't get it. He's arguably the GOAT but he gets tight and loses his shite when he sees Wawr Eegull across the field. It's very aggravating as a Bama fan who wants to dominate their sorry arse like we did in the 70's.

Welcome to SEC Country’s daily Roll Tide-ings, a rundown of everything happening in Alabama Crimson Tide recruiting with Chris Kirschner. Today, we discuss the latest with Alabama wide receiver commit Xavier Williams, 4-star defensive end Justin Mascoll and 4-star linebacker Amari Gainer.

Williams sticks with Alabama

Xavier Williams has been committed to Alabama for little more than a month now and has seen former offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian leave for the Atlanta Falcons, former wide receivers coach Billy Napier leave for Arizona State and Mike Locksley move from being an offensive analyst for Alabama to the team’s wide receivers coach.

That’s a whole lot of shifting around for a recruit who’s been committed for a short time period, but the shuffling of coaches hasn’t phased the 4-star wide receiver from Chaminade-Madonna High School (Hollywood, Fla.). In fact, the Alabama staff has been in constant communication with Williams.

“They have just showed even more love,” Williams told SEC Country this past weekend at the Miami Opening regional. “Even with the new coaches, I had to give them a chance. They haven’t fallen off.”

Congrats to WR Xavier Williams (@zayborghini_6) of Chaminade-Maddona Prep (FL) on his invite to #TheOpening Finals! pic.twitter.com/gNzjPnz9lP

— The Opening (@TheOpening) February 27, 2017

Locksley visited Williams the day after his commitment to Alabama in January, and the two have been building a relationship since then. Williams was expected to be in Tuscaloosa this past weekend but ended up not making the trip in order to compete at The Opening camp. He was one of the top wide receivers in attendance and earned an invitation to the finals, which are held in Oregon this summer.

The new wide receivers coach called Williams on Saturday to wish him luck and see when he’ll make it to Tuscaloosa.

“He was trying to see how soon I can come because they just had a junior day on (Saturday),” Williams said. “I’m going to their spring game on April 22.”

The nation’s No. 2 athlete has actually never been to Alabama before, which is surprising because recruits, for the most part, usually visit a school at least one time before committing. Every time he’s had the chance to visit Tuscaloosa with friends, he’s had a game or practice.

So, why did Williams commit to Alabama without ever being there?

“I’m very comfortable with it because they’ve shown love to my parents,” Williams said. “They make them feel like more of a priority than me.”

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound prospect has told SEC Country before that he wants to be the alpha dog of the Tide’s Class of 2018. Williams’ teammate at Chaminade-Madonna is defensive back Shaun Shivers, who’s committed to Auburn. Shivers is trying to flip Williams to the Tigers, but don’t expect that to happen.

Mascoll calls Alabama one of his top schools

One of the highest-rated recruits who was in Tuscaloosa this past weekend was 4-star prospect Justin Mascoll, who is the nation’s No. 3 defensive end.

Mascoll hasn’t been associated much with Alabama recently, as Georgia, Clemson and Florida State look to be the favorites for him at this time, but he told SEC Country that people need to start including Alabama with that group of three.

“I have a lot of interest in Alabama. They are definitely one of my top schools,” Mascoll said. “I just like it there. I like how they keep their players accountable day in and day out.”

The South Gwinnett High School (Snellville, Ga.) standout spent the majority of his time with outside linebackers coach Tosh Lupoi this past weekend and spent some time with Nick Saban, too. Both coaches gave Mascoll some pointers on what they feel he needs to do to get better when his season rolls around in the fall.

“I appreciate it a lot hearing that from great coaches like coach Lupoi and Saban,” Mascoll said. “It really helped figure out what I need to do to get to that next level and be great. The coaches were just real about what I need to work on and get better. They were also just very cool to be around. I just had a great time there.”

When he got back home from Tuscaloosa on Saturday, Mascoll still had Alabama on his mind. He posted the tweet below to show people how serious he is in considering the Crimson Tide.

“I just wanted to show other people that ‘Bama is a great place to be and they have a great philosophy there that makes their players successful in the game and in life,” he said.

Another Ferrari at linebacker?

The last time Alabama had a “Ferrari” at linebacker, it worked out quite nicely for the Crimson Tide. Reuben Foster lost 15 pounds entering last season and called himself a Ferrari after the slimmer look. He ended up winning the Butkus Award for being college football’s best linebacker in 2016.

In the Class of 2018, there’s another Ferrari. Amari “Ferrari” Gainer, a 4-star linebacker from Lawton Chiles High School (Tallahassee, Fla.), picked up an offer from Alabama on Monday night.

“My teammates called me “Amari The Ferrari” back in Pop Warner when I played running back,” Gainer told SEC Country. “I feel like I play kind of like (Foster). I can get downhill, play good in space and get after the quarterback.”

Alabama has kept a close eye on Gainer and finally offered him a scholarship after a dominant performance last week at the Orlando Opening regional camp, where he was named the camp’s top linebacker in attendance.

The Crimson Tide offer was one he was hoping to get sooner rather than later because he’s planning to make a decision on where he’ll attend college before his senior season begins.

“This is special to get a big offer by such a great school,” Gainer said. “Alabama is a great school. It is known for winning and has a coaching staff that is built to train you for the NFL.”

Alabama does have some top competition for Gainer if it wants to add him in the Class of 2018. With him being from Tallahassee, Florida State is the school that is viewed as the overwhelming favorite to land his signature. His father, Herb, played wide receiver for the Seminoles and Amari grew up a fan of FSU.

That doesn’t mean he’s automatically going to Florida State, he insists.

“I’d say that my options are open and I have no leader right now,” Gainer said. “My dad doesn’t care where I go as long as I make the best decision for me and my career.”

As for where Alabama stands now? The Crimson Tide are up there with the Seminoles.

“I’m high on ‘Bama and they’re definitely one of my top schools,” Gainer said, “I love the program. I like how they win and the coaches coach you up right and train you for the next level.”

Gainer visited Tuscaloosa for the Mississippi State game this past season and he’s hoping to make it back to Alabama in the near future.

Welp. We didn't make Jalen Armour-Davis' top 6 he released. His frick up because our corner depth will be much thinner after this season. Averrett and Brown gone. Fitzpatrick even tho he plays safety now but can play corner. Would leave us with Knott, Mayden, Robinson, McDonald. Very thin. We have to sign a big time Corner this class.

I wonder what his hang up is with Alabama?

He has plenty of time to let his recruitment play out, but apparently he is announcing real soon.

Maybe he was told he had to camp for a committable offer and he got pissed?

Davis is sadly going to the Barn.
Why any defensive player would chose them over Bama is beyond me.

Also, isn't Saban 7-3 against the barn?
Wins: 08, 09, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16
Losses: 07, 10, 13

7-2 since Bama's run started in 08.

3. EXCITING POSITION BATTLES BREWING

The 2018 class is shaping up to be the best in recent cycles - at least since 2014 - at the top of the charts, and there are some serious position battles brewing with this group. While quarterback Trevor Lawrence appears to be head-and-shoulders ahead of the competition at his position, the battles at running back, wide receiver, offensive line, defensive end and cornerback could be epic.

With the addition of a fifth star to Lingard, there are now two Florida running backs (James Cook is the other) pushing North Carolina’s Zamir White for the top spot in the running back position rankings.

At wide receiver, tall pass catchers Jalen Hall and Justyn Ross sandwich do-everything Amon-Ra St. Brown in the wide receiver position rankings.

The cornerback battle is going to be fun to watch with newly-minted five-star Anthony Cook pushing Patrick Surtain for the top spot. There's also a number of high four-stars pushing to get into the battle, such as Asante Samuel, Isaac Taylor-Stuart and Al Blades.

When it comes to defensive end, do you prefer explosive power end Xavier Thomas or freaky Noah Spence clone Micah Parsons?

Finally, the offensive line ranks are loaded with nasty, angry dudes. Jackson Carman will drive block you off the screen; Jamaree Salyer would choke you out if it was legal; and Cade Mays will body slam you like a WWE star.

I like this 2018 class a lot and each ranking release makes me like it even more.

DE Andres Fox

Fox had a big junior season and his size and athleticism have put him on the radar of many college programs. He can project as a rush end or an outside linebacker on the next level and he has plenty of big offers to evaluate. He visited Alabama and Georgia over the weekend, Auburn offered him early and Florida State is a school he plans to visit soon. - Simmons

ATH Gerry Bohanan

There are not many athletes that are more intriguing than Bohanan. What is he on the next level? Schools are starting to really believe he can be a quarterback with his big arm, ability to run and size. Alabama was first to offer in January and Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia, LSU and Tennessee are some of the many that have offered since. No favorites have emerged yet, but Alabama and Arkansas are two he'd like to visit soon. - Simmons

SS Joseph Foucha

Foucha is ranked as a three-star, but he has an offer list that is more impressive than some Rivals250 prospects. He's seen his recruitment explode in recent weeks with Alabama, Oklahoma and others joining his list. Foucha will head into camp season looking to vault himself into the discussion for the nation's best safety and will have ample opportunities to do so, starting the with Rivals 3-Stripe Camp in New Orleans on March 12. - Wommack
