With the 2018 recruiting season in full swing, we are beginning to see numerous prospects narrow down their lists and release top 5s, 10s and 15s. The latest prospects to do so is SEC target Daniel Carson, a defensive end.

On Tuesday night, Carson took to Twitter to release his top 11 schools. Included on that list are three SEC programs: Alabama, Arkansas and Georgia:

According to 247Sports, Carson is a 3-star defensive end, though his offer list indicates that he could be quite a bit better than his ranking would suggest. Carson hails from Kansas City, Mo., though the in-state Missouri Tigers are conspicuously absent from his list.

Recruiting sites really should only put out their top 250 or whatever until after summer camps, then add in 3* evals etc

Frustrating they just slap 3* on a kid they haven't eval'd, then bump up to 4* just because he gets high profile offers, then they move up to high 4*/5* once they actually eval/see him play in summer + senior year.

In a utopian world but not in a competitive one based off subscriptions, click bait, and who posted the nuggets first. The nature of the business.

Click bait/posted nugs first doesn't have to deal with lower tier rankings though. I see what you are getting at but I don't think sub count depends that much on having a guy listed as a 3* in April/May vs having him correctly a 3* in July/Aug

If they kept their top 250 etc, they still have that ranking stuff out but I don't think people care all tha tmuch about 3* guys and they look dumb when they label kids 3* now an are wrong

DE Stephon Wynn is planning to visit Alabama this Summer.

He's a Clemson legacy so he's probably going to sign with them.

"Alabama has been saying that I'm their No. 1 cornerback on the board and that based on the way that I play, they think that I have first-round potential. They also think I fit in their system."

How many kids have we told they were #1 on our board?

O'FALLON, Ill. – It’s our job at Rivals.com to get the information on which schools the nation’s top prospects will end up signing with when the time comes. But sometimes the best clues come from fellow recruits. At this past weekend's St. Louis stop of the Rivals 3 Stripe Camp Series presented by adidas, we asked fellow prospects where some of the region's best players will end up and their answers may surprise you.

DT Michael Thompson

The Pick: Undecided

Why: “With Mike, I think he’ll be at LSU or Ohio State. Maybe Michigan, though. He’s going to one of those” – Babb

The Pick: Alabama

Why: “It’s tough. I think Alabama. I just get a 'Bama feel with him.” – Trout

The Pick: Alabama

Why: “I could see him at Alabama because he’s so big he could just dominate with the best people in the nation.” – Williams

The Pick: Missouri

Why: “I think Michael Thompson, Ronnie Perkins and Trevor Trout are all going to end up at the same place and I think it’s going to be Mizzou.” – Henry

DE Greg Emerson

The Pick: Tennessee

Why: “I think the in-state pull. He really talked about Alabama when we were at another camp together and how he liked it, and I know it’s between us and them but he didn’t tell us much about it so I figure he’ll go to Tennessee.” – Rivals250 Manchester (Tenn.) Coffee County ATH Alontae Taylor

The Pick: Tennessee

Why: “Because Brant Lawless already committed and I think once he commits D’Andre Litaker will commit and they’ll form the big three up there at Tennessee.” – 2019 Rivals100 Nashville (Tenn.) Franklin Road Academy WR Lance Wilhoite

Vigor, Alabama DE Desmond Little

Recruiting Wrap: Little's recruitment is just starting. He was recently offered by Alabama.

Performance: Little is a long, athletic outside linebacker. This was his first camp, so he had his ups and downs because everything was new to him, but at his size, he impressed with speed and athleticism. He is a 6-foot-4, 206-pound rising junior with an 80-inch wingspan.

ATLANTA — Jo'Quavious Marks rushed for 1,246 yards and a dozen touchdowns as a freshman at Carver High and the 5-foot-11, 178 pound running back has put his name on the recruiting map.

It has been very active this spring at Carver and many coaches wanted to take a look at the rising sophomore. The state of Georgia has some talented running backs who have already emerged in the 2020 class and Marks looks to be one of the best.

Syracuse was first to offer May 3, then it was Kansas State May 5. Alabama is the most recent offer and the Crimson Tide offered May 8.

"It is exciting to get these offers and it is just going to push me to work harder to get more," said Marks. "Getting the first one was big, but each time I have found out about an offer, it is has been pretty exciting."

He does not know much about the Orange or Wildcats yet, but he has already visited Tuscaloosa (Ala.) and the Crimson Tide are close to home, so he knows about Nick Saban's program.

"I like how they use their running backs and how they produce running backs at Alabama. They use multiple backs, switching them in and out and they have sent a lot to the NFL. I also like how organized they are and how they win."

Georgia, LSU and Ohio State are schools Marks named when asked about others he hopes to add offers from. One of those was his childhood favorite.

"I have always like Georgia a lot," said Marks. "I love Todd Gurley, I have watched him a lot and I have been there before. I love the crowd, they show players love and I like the coaches there too.

"They always have good running backs, they get the ball to their guys and it is a school I would love to get an offer from."

Marks plans to camp at Georgia this summer.

I must have missed this offer because there is no way in hell I would forget a name like Jo-Quavious.

The evaluation period for college coaches to hit the road and scout prospects ends later this month just as college camps are about to get underway.

Let's take a look at what's going on at the running back position for Alabama.

Any commitments?

Alabama does not have a running back committed right now

Spring updates

Alabama had a running back committed for almost a year, but four-star Bainbridge, Ga., back Dameon Pierce recently reopened his recruitment. Look for him to sign elsewhere.

Alabama has re-upped its pursuit of in-state Austin High star Asa Martin, who played at the IMG Academy as a junior. Back in February, Martin said he hadn't heard from Alabama since Mel Tucker was there - more than a year earlier.

Alabama offensive coordinator Brian Daboll is a fan of Martin. He got an offer and Daboll saw his spring game. Things could clear up even more for Martin after the first camp from June 4-6.

It's cloudy after Martin. Alabama wants five-star Zamir White, the nation's No. 5 prospect, and has seen him this spring, but he appears to be a Georgia or Clemson lean. Alabama still recruits others, including Florida State commit James Cook.

Alabama likes Mountain Brook running back Harold Joiner, but as a receiver, tight end, safety or linebacker. Joiner sees himself as a future running back.

Bottom line

It's not a priority position unless most of the current six non-senior scholarship backs leave. Alabama will sign just one running back this year. Remember that current back Joshua Jacobs didn't emerge until late January in the 2016 class.

The roster for the Elite 11 Finals is set. The three-day camp features 24 of the nation’s top quarterbacks competing to earn one of the 12 invitations to The Opening Finals held at Nike World Headquarters.

Five 247Sports Composite five-star signal callers lead the group including Clemson commit Trevor Lawrence of Cartersville (Ga.) — the nation’s No. 1 overall recruit in 2018, USC commit Matt Corral of Long Beach (Calif.), Penn State commit Justin Fields of Kennesaw (Ga.) Several uncommitted quarterbacks are competing. The highest rated being Tanner McKee, a top-75 recruit out of Corona (Calif.) Centennial who is considering Stanford, BYU, Alabama and others. Bossier City (La.) Parkway’s Justin Rogers is considered a TCU lean and North Charleston (S.C.) Fort Dorchester’s Dakereon Joyner is considered a South Carolina lean, and both will be throwing at the Elite 11 Finals as well.

Others uncommitted prospect competing include Earle (Ark.) Top247 quarterback Gerry Bohanon, Chandler (Ariz.) Hamilton three-star Tyler Shough, Lehi (Utah) three-star Cammon Cooper, and Jacksonville (Fla.) Providence three-star Carter Bradley. Bohanon is considering Mississippi State, Arkansas, and Auburn. Shough is giving Michigan, Indiana, and North Carolina a strong look. Washington State is considered the team to beat for Cooper, while Rutgers is the latest to offer Bradley.

UCLA commit Dorian Thompson-Robinson of Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman, Auburn commit Joey Gatewood of Jacksonville (Fla.) Bartram Trail, Stanford commit Jack West of Saraland (Ala.), Utah commit Jack Tuttle of San Marcos (Calif.) Mission Hills, Michigan commit Joe Milton of Orlando (Fla.) Washington quarterback commit Colson Yankoff was selected to the finals, but the Coeur D’Alene (Idaho) product will not compete due to an injury.

The Elite 11 Finals will take place in Redondo Beach, Calif. June 2-4. 247Sports will be on site to provide complete coverage from the top quarterback camp around.
