QUARTERBACK MVP

Harrison Bailey

Bailey seemed to be throwing at all times Sunday. He took so many reps and he was sharp in the not perfect conditions. He is a quiet kid but throws with confidence. He carries himself well and he even threw down a few nice dunks in the gym before the camp got started. Bailey is the next top quarterback in the state of Georgia. Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields and Emory Jones are the guys in 2018, and Bailey will be a national guy in the 2020 class. He grew up a Florida fan and has an offer from the Gators, but he is exploring all of his options.

DEFENSIVE LINE MVP (FIVE-STAR CHALLENGE INVITE)

Brenton Cox

Cox burst onto the scene about a year ago and he has since become a national recruit. Georgia and Ohio State are battling for the strongside end out of Stockbridge (Ga.), and a decision could come as early as this week. He at one time was a lean rush end who some thought could project as a stand-up linebacker, but after another year in the weight room and some good added weight he is destined to play with his hand in the dirt. Cox has cemented himself as one of the best in the country at defensive end.

RUNNING BACK MVP

Lyn-J Dixon

Dixon is from a small town in Georgia that not many know about, but the Butler (Taylor County) star is becoming a big name throughout the South. He has put up big numbers the last two seasons, he plays fast and he was a nightmare for linebackers Sunday. He was up at Tennessee for a visit Saturday and the Vols are on his radar. Clemson is another school he is taking a hard look at.

WIDE RECEIVER/TIGHT END MVP

John FitzPatrick

For someone who does not get to catch a lot of passes on his team, Fitzpatrick looks natural getting down the field and plucking the ball out of the air. He plays in a triple option offense and is used a lot as an in-line blocker and he has that toughness and grit you like to see. He fights for the football and he plays with smarts and determination. Fitzpatrick has Ivy league offers to SEC offers and he is going to explore all of them.

OFFENSIVE LINE MVP (FIVE-STAR CHALLENGE INVITE)

Trey Hill

Hill has become a monster between the lines. He is so soft spoken and quiet when he is not on the field, but he knows how to flip that switch when it comes time to compete. He has become one of the most dominant players in the 2018 class. At times Sunday, he made it look so easy in the trenches against some talented defensive linemen. Alabama and Ohio State offered Hill this past week, but are they too late? Auburn, Clemson Florida State and Georgia are four schools he is definitely considering.

DEFENSIVE BACK MVP

Jaycee Horn

Horn only played basketball as a freshman and sophomore in high school out in Mississippi before moving to Georgia and having a big junior season on the football field. He has an extensive offer list with Alabama now in the lead for his signature. He is the son of former NFL wide receiver Joe Horn, so he has great bloodlines, and you can see the confidence he plays with, just like his father did.

LINEBACKER MVP

Jayden McDonald

McDonald is not a name being talked about in the recruiting world, but after his strong performance Sunday things will pick up for him. Arkansas State was first to offer and Rutgers and UNLV has extended offers since with more likely coming this spring. He is a versatile linebacker who could project as an outside or inside linebacker on the next level.

MORE RIVALS FIVE-STAR CHALLENGE INVITES

quote:

Clay Webb

After another dominant performance at a Rivals Camp event, class of 2019 four-star offensive lineman Clay Webb earned an invitation to the Five-Star Challenge. Webb, who won the offensive line MVP award at last summer’s Underclassmen Challenge, was nearly impossible to beat while working at center. Alabama, Auburn and several others are in the mix to land his commitment.

CB Chris Smith

At every camp and event Chris Smith has competed in this year he has drawn great reviews. The cornerback out of College Park (Ga.) Hapeville Charter recently trimmed his list to Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State and South Carolina. Not long ago he made his way to the Midwest and the visits to Columbus and Ann Arbor really opened his eyes. Myles Sims recently committed to Michigan and he and Smith are close friends. They would love to play on the same team in college. William Poole signed with Georgia in 2017, and they are former teammates and close friends, and the Dawgs are very much in this too. Smith was back at Georgia for G-Day Saturday. A decision is likely to be made before August.

OC Clay Webb

Pierce Quick committed to Alabama Saturday and the 2019 four-star offensive lineman out of Trussville (Ala.) Hewitt Trussville said he is targeting Clay Webb. It is likely going to come down to Alabama and Auburn, the two in-state schools, for Webb, but Georgia is one to know as well. He has visited the Bulldogs numerous times, including Saturday for their spring game. Webb’s parents attended Jacksonville State, so he says he did not grow up favoring the Crimson Tide or Tigers. Behind the scenes, it appears the Crimson Tide may have the edge. He has a great relationship with offensive line coach Brent Keys.

DE Brenton Cox

It looked like Georgia was going to win out and keep Brenton Cox, the four-star defensive end out of Stockbridge (Ga.), at home about a month ago, but after a visit to Ohio State last weekend the Buckeyes grabbed the momentum. Cox thought about committing this week, but he has postponed that. He was back in Athens (Ga.) visiting the Bulldogs Saturday and this is a very tight race. He is a priority for both programs and knows that, and now he is thinking about which one is best for him and when he wants to make that decision. This one could either way and Cox is adamant about his mind not being made up yet.

CB Jaycee Horn

After visiting Alabama again over the weekend, cornerback Jaycee Horn has the Crimson Tide on top of his list. The rising senior out of Alpharetta (Ga.) has not been one in the past to publicly name top schools, so this says a lot about his interest in Alabama. When asked about schools behind the Crimson Tide, he wasn't ready to name those yet. Horn has no decision timeline; he said it will just happen when he is ready.

QB Harrison Bailey

Class of 2020 quarterback Harrison Bailey was recently in Gainesville for the Florida spring game and said he enjoyed his time on campus. Bailey is a priority target for the Gators and despite his age has been for nearly a year. While on the visit Bailey got a chance to see the Gators' offense in action and said he was impressed with the skill position talent on the field. Bailey continues to take visits while he weighs options that include Clemson, Alabama and several others.

OLB Matthew Flint

Alabama-based linebacker Matthew Flint plans to camp at Alabama this summer. And while Flint says he wouldn’t commit on the spot should an offer from the Tide appear, he admits that it would certainly impact his recruitment in a major way. He names Louisville and Vanderbilt among his current favorites.

FWIW, we supposedly got a private commitment this weekend. I'm not 100% sure who it is, but it sounds like (based on comments from TI and another well-known "insider") it's a 5* WR.

Not sure if Copeland is a 5* on one of the sites or not. I know he's around #40-55 on the Composite and 247's ranking. Of course we know Ross is a 5*.

Based on so much talk about Copeland on sites, I'm going to guess it's him, but could also be Ross.

Anyways, a private commitment doesn't mean a ton these days. We'll see if whoever it is goes and stays public soon.

Also heard to CONTINUE to keep an eye on Josh Jobe, even after he publicly "re-affirmed" to Miami. Supposedly, he's still telling us everything to make us feel like he'll flip. We'll see.

Someone on BOL eluded to it as well that it was Ross.
