Any idea who he picks? I haven't followed his recruitment closely but I see the crystal ball favors SC

I think we land him.

He told SEC Country that we were recruiting Kyler McMichael harder than him and he committed to Clemson this morning.

I'm guessing Horn has the green light to commit now.

Jalyn Armour-Davis won the Alabama Class 5A 100-meter state championship with a time of 10.87 seconds earlier this spring. Armour-Davis was the only runner in the race to break the 11-second barrier. Even more impressive than that, he posted the blistering time on a tight hamstring.

That’s the kind of athlete Armour-Davis is, and now, Armour-Davis is an Alabama commitment. Armour-Davis decided to make his commitment Friday afternoon.

He wasn’t done winning gold medals. Armour-Davis also won gold in the triple jump, posting a mark of 44 feet and 5.5 inches. His worst triple jump on the day was 44 feet and .75 inches. That mark would’ve won him a gold medal, too. His elite athleticism is a main factor for why he had schools like Alabama, Auburn and Florida State desperately trying to get him on board.

When you first turn on Armour-Davis’ football film, the first things you notice are his ball skills and speed. The St. Paul’s Episcopal School standout plays both wide receiver and cornerback for the Saints. He excels at both positions. Last season, he had 31 tackles and three interceptions on defense and three TD receptions on offense.

Armour-Davis has shown the capability to play on and off coverage because of his smooth transition skills and ability to play the ball. He will have to get stronger in the weight room, which isn’t an issue right now. He weighs 165 pounds but will be able to add weight in Scott Cochran’s weight program.

The importance of Armour-Davis’ commitment

Alabama desperately needs some top cornerbacks this year after signing zero in the Class of 2017. The Crimson Tide had the No. 1 recruiting class in the country once again, but the lack of a corner was a glaring hole.

That’s because the Crimson Tide secondary in 2018 will see a lot of turnover as Tony Brown and Anthony Averett will move on after exhausting their eligibility and Minkah Fitzpatrick and Ronnie Harrison are likely candidates to declare for the NFL draft. If we thhis montgo by who ran with the first-team defense in the spring game, that would only leave Trevon Diggs as the lone returning starter in the secondary in 2018. The Class of 2016 DBs: Jared Mayden, Aaron Robinson and Shyheim Carter haven’t played meaningful minutes in the secondary just yet, and Nigel Knott redshirted last season.

Getting Armour-Davis, the state’s top-ranked defensive prospect, on board is a good start for what could be a busy few weeks for Alabama recruiting as summer has just begun.

And what an excellent job by the Alabama coaches to get Armour-Davis, one of the Tide’s top priorities, to commit. Just four months ago, Alabama was not in his top six.

While the Tide only have five commitments in the Class of 2018, one source close to the Alabama program told SEC Country that it would not be a surprise if the team had around 15 commitments by the end of summer. Remember: Nick Saban already confirmed that the team can only sign 22 players this cycle.

Jaycee Horn, the nation’s No. 23 cornerback in the Class of 2018, is down to two SEC schools.

Horn, a 4-star prospect from Alpharetta (Ga.) High School, has narrowed his recruitment down to Alabama and South Carolina. He’ll announce his commitment on July 15.

The 6-foot, 170-pound prospect broke down why those two schools are his final schools.

On Alabama: “Alabama is in it simply because it’s Alabama and there’s not a program that can develop you better. Also, I have a chance to compete for playing time early.

On South Carolina: “South Carolina is in it because I have great relationships with their staff, and they also have a lot of success with DBs. They had all those guys at Florida.”

Horn grew up a big Alabama fan, but South Carolina has truly done a great job recruiting him and has a great chance of stealing away one of the team’s top targets.

If I had to make a prediction today, Alabama would be my pick because the team has a serious need for cornerbacks this cycle and because of him growing up a big fan. His father, former NFL wide receiver Joe Horn, actually believes Alabama is the closest program you can get to being in the league.

“He thinks it’s the closest thing you’re going to get to the NFL, especially for a DB,” Horn said. “They run an NFL type of defense. They play a lot of man to man. Nick Saban, you can debate on the fact that he’s the best DB coach in the nation right now.”

I'd kill for some rain up here. We are in a burn ban for the foreseeable future. It's going to be 101 degrees on Monday.

Co-sign this statement. I'm leaving on Sunday for an extended vacation to Disney and then San Destin and, you guessed it, there is a 50% chance of rain each day at both locations. Come on, rain! Give us a break.
