If he does as well at The Opening and all star games as he has in the other camps, he may wind up top 5. He should be consensus 5 star when Rivals and ESPN update unless they just aren't paying attention to these camps.

Since it's slow right now, I'll mention that it looks like we would like to sign two more Juco DL in 2017. Teair Tart-Spencer and Isaiah Buggs (#1 DE on the board according to some). Keep those two names in mind. Buggs looks like a Bama - L5U battle. We have a leg up for Tart-Spencer, with him coming from Charles Baldwin's Juco.

A week after A Day and still no commitments.

QB Tua Tagovailoa set his commitment date for May 2nd.

I would like our chances, but hard to judge with the distance factor.

His parents said that they were looking for jobs in Mobile, so maybe Saban hooked em up

I've never understood those talking about the distance factor with Hawaiian recruits. Anywhere he goes (unless he went to the U of Hawaii), he'd be flying thousands of miles to travel there. What's a handful of extra hours by plane when you'd already be traveling hours by plane to the West Coast anyway. To me, the only real factor for someone like him would be that there would be more people of Samoan/Polynesian descent on the West Coast. Distance shouldn't be much of a deal, I wouldn't think.

But it would also be twice the cost for travel as opposed to the west coast, and $$$ do make a difference.

Ryan Bartow CB'd Tua to Alabama.

Because they usually play on the west coast.

Yeah and one can fly on Allegiant Air from Hawaii to Las Vegas for like $60 one way. Vegas has flights to LA for around the same price. Birmingham? Not so much.

That's sort of weird. I didn't know that.
Posted on 4/23/16 at 6:57 pm to CapstoneGrad06
Again, more because of the high Samoan/Polynesian population than the distance, I would imagine. I wasn't aware of the flight cost issue. But we... uhh... shouldn't let that be an issue for them, if you know what I'm saying.

Then I hope he proves me wrong. But I don't expect it.

Steve Wiltfong of 247 just posted that a big reason why he's predicting Tua to Bama is that USCw just offered Stanford QB Commit Davis Mills yesterday.

I like his game. Big arm, accurate, and great runner.
