Maybe Mario got him drunk at a bar, then called the cops on him during his ride home.

Agree. But keep a close eye on Scott Lashley this Spring. Hearing he has a chance to be special.

Several analysts called Lashley a sleeper when we stole him from MSU. I remember Redfish being one that said he would be just as good as if not better than Greg Little after a year or two in a college weight and nutrition program. Nice to hear he is already living up to such high praise. RTR!!!

Four-star safety Todd Harris recaps Alabama official visit
quote:

'Alabama impressed me a lot,' four-star Louisiana safety Todd Harris says

Not long after Alabama landed commitments from four-star safeties Daniel Wright and Xavier McKinney, Plaquemine, La., four-star defensive back Todd Harris wondered if he still would be recruited by the Crimson Tide.

The answer was yes. Harris, a 6-foot, 180-pound safety ranked No. 80 nationally, talked to secondary coach Derrick Ansley and was reassured that Alabama was still recruiting him.

"The message he gave me was that they were still recruiting me because I can play so many different positions," Harris said Sunday. "That's why I was on the recruiting board, because of that fact."

Harris took his official visit to Alabama this weekend. He visited LSU last weekend and will go to TCU next weekend. Harris earned his Alabama offer with a strong camp performance last July.

Alabama also has an early enrollee in the secondary with James Clemens standout Kyriq McDonald, but a final piece of the puzzle there could come from Harris, last week's visitor Christopher Henderson, a four-star cornerback from Miami or possibly even three-star cornerback Ameer Speed, a Jacksonville, Fla., standout who does not have an Alabama offer yet but did get a visit from head coach Nick Saban last week.

"Most definitely (they made me feel like a priority)," Harris said. "It wasn't anything like they were pressuring me, but they said I could be a nice asset to the secondary. They can use me because I can play so many different positions. I definitely know I could be a valuable asset in the Alabama secondary."

Harris' host was Kentwood, La., native Shyheim Carter, who just finished his freshman season at Alabama. The two played on the same 7-on-7 team two years ago.

Harris said that other visit highlights included riding golf carts at Saban's house, interacting with players and eating dinner and breakfast with Saban.

"It was all good stuff," Harris said. "If you don't want to work, it's not the place for you. The coaches have the best interest for you. Basically, if you don't want to put in that work, 'Bama's not the place for you."

Harris connected with Alabama commits Dylan Moses (early enrollee) and Christopher Allen, who are Louisiana natives, and other targets and players from the state, which is shaped like a boot.

"They're trying to turn that thing to a Boot thing," Harris said. "They've got a lot of Boot guys and have a lot of Boot guys who have been very successful at Alabama. It'll definitely feel like home."

Harris said Saban and Ansley talked mostly about playing the STAR (nickel) position or safety.

"Coach Saban said I could probably play corner, but he had not seen my sophomore tape yet," Harris said. "That's when I played cornerback. I can definitely play safety and play the STAR position for sure."

But Harris doesn't have a leader going into the home stretch.

"I'm still undecided," Harris said. "I know Alabama impressed me a lot after this visit. I'm going to get back to Louisiana and talk to my parents and pray about everything. With that being said, I still have a visit to TCU left. I'm not going to make my decision so early when I still have a visit left. I should know my decision by Sunday and I'll sign on Signing Day."

Randolph tweet
Kendall Randolph, a 4-star offensive lineman from Bob Jones High School (Madison, Ala.), seemed to enjoy his time in Tuscaloosa this weekend.

Randolph is 100 percent locked in with Alabama.

Anyone know if Todd Harris' parents came along on his OV this weekend or if they've visited UA before?

No, not their premium boards. I might have considered a Scout membership before had they offered the VIP access that 247 does.

James officially locked in with Alabama
Kedrick James, a 3-star tight end commit from La Vega High School (Waco, Texas), told us after he committed to Alabama that he wouldn't visit any other schools. That remains the case after visiting Tuscaloosa this weekend.

James' father, Brandon Baggett, told SEC Country that the family is 100 percent comfortable with sending Kedrick to Alabama for college.

"He won't be taking any other visits," Baggett said. "We are super excited for Kedrick."

The family had a chance to talk with Saban, as all of the official visitors do, and the plan for James was received very well by the family.

"They'd like for him to be a triple threat as a blocker, run routes off the line and run a few fade routes from a wide receiver position."

The 6-foot-5, 245-pound prospect is one of two tight ends in the Class of 2017. Major Tennison, a 4-star tight end, is already enrolled at Alabama.

Johnson eliminates Alabama
Ryan Johnson, a 4-star defensive end from Mobile, Ala., wasn't in Tuscaloosa this weekend. He was in Auburn. But what he said gives us a better picture of where Alabama believes it stands with one of its biggest targets.

Johnson was expected to visit Alabama next weekend, but he's not doing that anymore. In fact, he's eliminated the Tide from his top schools list.

"They have too many people," Johnson told SEC Country's Auburn recruiting reporter Benjamin Wolk.

That quote likely means Alabama is very confident with where it stands with 5-star defensive end LaBryan Ray. Ray has been Alabama's No. 1 target at defensive end, and Johnson has been viewed as the backup plan for several months now.

So even though it looks like Alabama's backup option is out of the picture now, the guy the Tide really wants looks to be as close to a lock as you can get.

Does LSU still have a chance with Alabama LB commit Christopher Allen?
AL.com | Jan 22, 2017
quote:

One of Alabama's top recruits in this class made his official visit to Tuscaloosa over the weekend.

Christopher Allen, a four-star linebacker from Baton Rouge, La., has been committed to Alabama since Iron Bowl weekend in late November. He had Alabama as his leader for several months before that.

But, LSU isn't going down without a fight. Head coach Ed Orgeron has Allen a priority, which is especially important after LSU lost out to Alabama with five-star Baton Rouge native Dylan Moses.

"It was great," Allen told AL.com in a text message about his Alabama official. "I had a lot of fun every single hour of every single day. It was amazing."

But the 6-foot-4, 234-pound outside linebacker still hasn't shut the door to LSU, it seems.

"Solid," Allen said when asked about his commitment status with Alabama and if LSU still has a chance. "They still have a chance, though."

Allen said last month that he may give Colorado an official visit. It's unknown if that will still happen, but this will be one battle to watch as Signing Day nears.

From a BOL "insider:"

quote:

Allen seems to be locked in

Mathis mom is onboard with bama but not sure if bama has took the lead for her... mathis still telling staff he coming

Weird vibe from smith, lots of questions about current wrs

Harris camp seemed to favor lsu due to thinking he wasnt a big priority for bama. Not sure how things stand now

Follow up on the Smith comment when someone said he was wrong about him:

quote:

How can I be wrong in saying he asked lots of questions that have been addressed numerous times? He still told the staff he coming
