Here's a look at the Top 10 players in Arkansas in the Class of 2017 as rated by Hawgs247.

2. Akial Byers A 4-star defensive tackle from Fayetteville who is committed to Alabama. Arkansas didn't offer, but many of the national powers did. He chose the Crimson Tide. He had 70 tackles as a junior and against Greenwood (Ark.) in a benefit game on Monday he made tackles from sideline to sideline even from his tackle spot. Runs extremely well for his size.

Good. Since we can't get anybody to commit when they're thought to be committing, maybe we could get a nice surprise one from him soon.

Its crazy to see how many of our 5-stars at least according to some services are rated four stars composite. Otherwise we would have almost 10 five stars too. Sounds conspiratorial but thems the breaks I guess.

There's some weirdness with a couple of them. Devonta Smith, for example,is going to sign with us. He'd easily be 5* Composite if ESPN didn't have him something like #250 nationally. Very weird rating there since he's been dominant in actual games, in camps, and has very good measurables. It's as if they're too proud/stubborn to go change it after he dominated all Spring/Summer. Jeudy will likely also wind up a Composite 5*, I would guess. Wills is right on the border. My brain is too tired to think of others, but I know I'm forgetting some others that will either be close or have one service that's skewing the rankings a lot.

I would love to see us snag Nico Collins and Isaiah Wilson. Brannon could grey shirt and Nico could replace Ruggs. We could take just 3 D-linemen to get numbers to 29. Devon Hunter would be great if the LSU guy doesn't flip.

Can we get a numbers update?

How many spots left and how many per position?

A source close to McFarland told IMS that his co-leaders are both Maryland and Miami. Surprisingly, Alabama has dropped from his top tier due to the Crimson Tide's smashmouth system. But McFarland and his family still plan to take an official to Tuscaloosa. The four official visits could be Alabama, Florida, Maryland and Miami.

Looks like Anthony McFarland doesn't like our style of offense.

In his defense, haven't all purpose type backs struggled here? I'm thinking of Dee Hart and that running back who ended up at Auburn a couple of years ago.

Kenyan Drake and TJ Yeldon did pretty well for themselves. Derrick was the first running back who just didn't catch passes.

I wouldn't consider TJ an all purpose back, but you are spot on about Kenyan and I had forgotten about him. Maybe its partly the Lane Kiffen factor and his ability to utilize weapons. We need to sell McFarland on that.

Here is where the A-List played and how they performed.

1. LaBryan Ray, DL, James Clemens - Ray had six tackles, two for loss with a combined sack, in a 26-13 loss at Gardendale. Ray was in the backfield with pressures for most of the night and the Jets held Gardendale to just 133 total yards.

2. Nico Collins, WR, Clay-Chalkville - Collins had seven receptions for 147 yards and a touchdown in a 33-30 win at Bessemer City.

3. Austin Troxell, OL, Madison Academy - Troxell (Auburn commit) and Madison Academy lost 20-16 at Ensworth in a game that was called with 10 minutes left due to lightning. Madison Academy had more than 250 passing yards.

4. Markail Benton, LB, Central-Phenix City - Benton (Alabama commit) had six tackles and a pass breakup in a 36-0 win over Fairfield.

5. Ryan Johnson, DL, St. Paul's - Johnson had two tackles for loss and three quarterback hurries in a 49-26 loss at St. Stanislaus, Miss.

6. Brian Robinson, RB, Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa - Robinson (Alabama commit) scored three touchdowns, carrying 11 times for 95 yards in a 41-21 win over Oak Mountain.

8. Kendall Randolph, OL, Bob Jones - Randolph (Alabama commit) and the Patriots lost 29-14 to Austin.

9. Alaric Williams, RB/ATH, Southside-Gadsden - Williams (Auburn commit) had 142 yards on 15 carries in a 44-29 win over Hokes Bluff per the Gadsden Times.

11. T.D. Moultry, LB, Jackson-Olin - Moultry (Auburn commit) had 11 tackles, three for loss as the Mustangs beat Central-Tuscaloosa 38-7 and are 2-0 for the first time in 10 years.

12. Chadarius Townsend, QB/ATH, Tanner - Townsend (Alabama commit) had 153 yards rushing and two touchdowns in a 48-28 loss to Class 5A Mae Jemison.

13. Justin Thomas, DL, Spanish Fort - Thomas (LSU commit) had two tackles and three quarterback hurries in a 26-7 win over Daphne. Toros held Trojans to just 105 total yards.

TJ is more all purpose than Kenyan IMO. You don't put Kenyan in to get tough yards but you could put TJ in to catch out of the backfield.

I think Dee Hart's knees got in his way more so than the offense. He'd gain traction, then boom, injury. They both were noncontact as well. He was having a better fall practice than Lacy one year, and was the teams punt returner after coming back from his first ACL tear.

Corey Grant was scared off by a position change. Alvin Kamara was a twat who would have likely had success at Bama. Tyren Jones couldn't get out of his own way.

TJ Yeldon ran like the world's largest scat back early on. He'd take it outside and go down on contact.
