So. I guess our Safety board is wiped clean. Who do we go after now?

ETA: I just looked at our Safety offers and the only one I want is Devon Hunter.

LSU fans on 247 seem to think they have landed an unexpected major target. It's not Stevens as they always felt like they had a shot with him as he was originally committed there in the 1st place.

So now reading between the lines some guys think Devonta Smith may have committed to Dameyune Craig and crew. Just passing along msg-board scuttlebutt. I mean we all know what happened yesterday with the supposed late surge by Florida for Jeudy but just something to watch for.

Not yet. They have Delpit and are probably going to land Todd Harris, unless Stevens scares Harris away.

We've offered Harris, but I haven't watched his film.

Reading the L5U board here and on 247, they think it could be Chris Allen, Devonta Smith, Dylan Moses, Travonte Valentine getting accepted, Levi Jones and about 3 other kids.

So, basically, who knows?

Shea Dixon kinda indirectly ruled out Devonta Smith.

A lot of people are saying it's Chris Allen which would suck if true.

Yeah, that sucks pretty bad. I was hoping it was false hope for Devonta...

Storyline: Can Jerry Jeudy be the next big-time Alabama receiver in the mold of Amari Cooper and Calvin Ridley? Only time will tell but the Crimson Tide dipped back into Florida to take one of the nation’s top receivers.

The Deerfield Beach, Fla., four-star standout committed to Alabama over Florida and others on Thursday as the Crimson Tide get richer. Jeudy has had an excellent summer to separate himself from many other top receivers in this class.

Coming off another national title, Alabama continues to prove it can go anywhere in the country for top talent. It has proven talent from the Southeast, a quarterback commit from Hawaii and two five-stars (a JUCO offensive tackle and the top RB in the country) from California.

The Crimson Tide can go anywhere to get anybody and Jeudy is just another example.

First take: "Jeudy is an important target for Alabama at receiver. The numbers were low in 2016 when the staff expected to sign a great class at the position. They missed on a few key targets in the end. They have the ability in 2017 to have an outstanding receiving corp. Jeudy and Tyrell Shavers are the first to jump on board. They have an excellent shot to add DeVonta Smith when he announces his decision on Aug. 15. Alabama has had a lot success in Florida with previous players like Heisman Trophy winner Derrick Henry, Biletnikoff winner Amari Cooper and freshman sensation Calvin Ridley. It's not a surprise top recruits from the Sunshine State sign with the Crimson Tide. The Alabama coaching staff continues to prove they can sign top tier recruits from each region of the country, not just in the Southeast." – Andrew Bone, TideSports.com

Second take: “Florida is obviously an extremely fertile recruiting territory. You have some big-time programs that go there and live there from a recruiting standpoint. Alabama getting a guy like this could be similar to Cooper. It depends on how much commitment Jeudy has to be being great, because he can be great. Getting Vandarius Cowan and Mac Jones and Alex Leatherwood, it’s something I’d expect of Alabama. That's the No. 1 team in the country when it comes to recruiting and on-field results. It helps when you get Cooper, who spurned Miami and other teams and went to Alabama and became a superstar. It helps when you have Ridley, who spurned Miami and all the other schools and he’s already a superstar. How do you really compete against that when you’re trying to keep Jeudy home?” - Farrell

With the commitment of Jerry Jeudy, currently ranked as the No. 44 player nationally, it comes as no surprise that he joins a fairly elite group of wide receivers to commit to Alabama since the inception of Rivals.com. Here’s a look at a few ahead of him and behind him in our rankings history.

These are the rankings:

1. Julio Jones
2. Calvin Ridley
3. Jerry Jeudy
4. Amari Cooper
5. Nikita Stover
6. Robert Foster
7. Chris Black
8. DeAndrew White
9. Daylon Charlot

**** Yes, there was a “boom” that occurred this week, but it’s not public. I don’t know when things will become public, either. But LSU is gaining steam on the recruiting trail right now with a lot of big name guys, just know that. We’ve talked up how good of a recruiting staff that Miles has right now, and 11 commitments (and counting) in two months really drives that home. This summer has been a great one for the Tigers.

**** I don’t think that Alabama getting WR Jerry Jeudy changes where things stand for the Tide when it comes to Louisiana WR Devonta Smith. They have been after Smith for a long time now and I’ve been told he’s got a spot there no matter what. He’s going to commit in August, and LSU is now in his final three alongside Alabama and Miami. I will say that I think LSU has given him some things to really think about, and the same goes for the Hurricanes. That’s a school I think Smith quietly really likes a lot. But I am still rolling with my Crystal Ball pick, which is in for Alabama. We will see how things play out over the next few weeks.

So I've been thinking about the first statement Shea Dixon made in the post above and he mentions the "boom happened this week."

He CB'd Chris Allen to Alabama two days ago and hasn't changed it so I'm thinking the "boom" is someone else .

I really don't think it's Allen. Shea wouldn't have put in a crystal ball for bama just for the hell of it. No one of any consequence said it was a BR kid, that just came along in the speculation.

My money is on K'Lavon Chaisson. Huge position of need, was assumed to be big12 bound, and Orgeron really turned up the heat on him lately. Shea could potentially be dropping a subtle clue with the Wilson tidbit too.
