The Opening: Terrance Davis
Brian Dohn
National Recruiting Analyst
BEAVERTON, Ore. -- Four-star offensive lineman Terrance Davis has a leader, an official visit set and there is plenty else going on in his recruitment.
Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha offensive lineman Terrance Davis arrived at The Opening with a leader. He also arrived with one official visit set, and plenty of schools still in contention for his services.
He is talking aplenty to Tennessee, Michigan, Maryland and Georgia. He is set to visit UCLA officially, but later this month will be at Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and Ohio State.
So, what is the latest with Davis? He spoke to Scout about it.

*Concord (Calif.) De La Salle defensive lineman Boss Tagaloa still has a top 12 list and said he’ll keep that top 12 until Signing Day.
“I don’t plan on any more cuts, I’m just going to keep that same 12,” Tagaloa said. “I’m going to take all five of my visits and then decide on Signing Day. Three schools I know I’ll visit are UCLA, Alabama and Michigan.
“With Alabama, they have such a strong football tradition and Tosh Lupoi is the coach recruiting me and he played at De La Salle. UCLA and Michigan both have a strong combination of football and academics and I like the coaching staffs from both places as well. Those last two are still open right now and I’m going to keep them open until the season and see who emerges."

Trey Smith, 2017 OT from Jackson, TN measured in at 6-5.5, 279. 3.7 GPA, really well spoken. Smart kid. Has a chance to earn a 5th star this week.
Alabama is the school he grew up rooting for. Georgia, Florida, LSU and Michigan are the offers he still wants.
Smith's father has already told him that he's not allowed to make college decision until his senior year just to make sure it's the right decision.

Apparently Robbie and Paul shot that down, even though it was a direct quote from Nigel, go figure. I don't have 247 so can't confirm.

Du'Vonta Lampkin waiting on NCAA appeal for release from Texas
Longhorns defensive tackle signee Du’Vonta Lampkin has no intention of attending the University of Texas and is currently awaiting an appeal from the NCAA to be released from his scholarship, Lampkin told Horns247 on Tuesday.
Lampkin, who submitted his appeal to the NCAA on Monday, said Texas will have five to 10 days to enter its own appeal in the case.
“I put in my appeal,” Lampkin said. After UT puts their argument in, the NCAA is the one that’s going to decide if I’m going to get released or not.”
The University could not be reached immediately for comment for this story.
Lampkin signed his National Letter of Intent with the Longhorns on Feb. 4, but said he would not attend Texas in a May 30 tweet. His academic status with UT originally involved a missing credit for Spanish 2. Lampkin said he’s attempted to take the class, a core requirement for acceptance into UT, multiple times but he can no longer take the course.
“There is no way I could do Spanish 2,” Lampkin said. “I tried and there’s no way. The (Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District) won’t let me, I can’t do it.”
Lampkin has asked Texas for his release, but it has yet to be granted by the University. The Cypress Falls High School graduate did speak with head coach Charlie Strong about his decision not to enroll in the school because of the Spanish credit, but said he can’t remember the details of the conversation.
A three-star defensive tackle, Lampkin still hopes to play at a Division I school next season, but he would need a discharge from his letter of intent to do so.
“I really can’t even get into the school no more,” Lampkin said. “So like, if I can’t get into the school, what’s the point of them hanging on to me?”
Lampkin, Texas’ sole defensive tackle signee in the 2015 recruiting class, said he’s not aware of the Longhorns’ reasoning for for failing to release him from his letter of intent. If his appeal is granted, Lampkin would be immediately available to transfer to another school with eligibility for next season.
Oklahoma, where he was once committed, and Alabama are two schools that would have a good opportunity to land him.
“Those are schools that have been suggested, but I haven’t said ‘Oh, I’m going to go to OU’ or ‘Oh, I’m going to go to Alabama,’” Lampkin said. “Those are just suggestions. I haven’t put schools at No. 1 or No. 2.”
Lampkin has consulted with his parents throughout this process, and he plans to play somewhere other than Austin next season. Though when asked, Lampkin could only say ‘I hope so’ about being on a Division I college campus for the 2015-16 academic calendar year.
“I’m just going through the process of getting my appeal, getting my release and moving on with my college life,” Lampkin said.

Did Alabama make former Crimson Tide commit Demetris Robertson's top 2?
Demetris Robertson says Alabama is still in his top 2
Four-star athlete Demetris Robertson committed to Alabama last summer before reopening his recruitment again in April, but the Crimson Tide remain in the mix for his signature.
Robertson, a Savannah, Ga., native, told reporters, including ESPN and Scout.com, while checking in at The Opening in Beaverton, Ore., that his top two schools currently are Alabama and Stanford.
The 6-foot-1, 180-pound Robertson is listed as the nation's top-ranked athlete in the 247Sports composite, as he could play receiver or cornerback at the next level.
Robertson is the No. 34 overall prospect and No. 3 prospect from Georgia.
Robertson told ESPN at The Opening that "(Alabama) let me know I am their No. 1 target." He also said he plans on visiting some West Coast schools, and wants to visit LSU, Ohio State and Notre Dame.
Georgia will remain a major player in Robertson's recruitment.
"It's going to be just me being comfortable at the school, just me having a foundation after football," Robertson told ESPN. "I know coach (Nick) Saban is great with helping out players after football, and so is Stanford."

5-star Texas A&M commit Greg Little planning official visit to Alabama
Greg Little
Greg Little may be committed to Texas A&M, but that hasn't stopped the country's top programs from trying to flip him.
When he arrived at Nike World Headquarters in Oregon Tuesday for The Opening, the 6-foot-5, 305-pound offensive tackle from Allen, Texas, told 247Sports he plans to take all five of his official visits.
He hasn't finalized where he'll go, but said the trips will likely be to Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, Ole Miss and Texas A&M.
So, which school is biggest threat to the Aggies?
"All of them," Little said. "A&M doesn't really have to show me anything this year. They just need to keep doing what they've been doing. A lot of times when guys talk to other schools it's not because of coaches, it's because it's a big decision and they're trying to do what's best for them."
Scout reports a "final decision" will come Nov. 4, Little's birthday.
Little has taken just two visits this summer. He stopped by Ole Miss June 8 before checking out Alabama the following day.
"He wants to look around," Little's head coach, Tom Westerburg, told AL.com last month. "(Texas A&M) had an offensive line coaching change and I don't know if that has anything to do with it. He's going to look around, but I don't know what it will take (to flip him.)"
Little is ranked as the nation's No. 2 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite. Check out his highlights in the video below and stay tuned to AL.com for more coverage of The Opening.

Watch Alabama, Auburn QB target Jawon Pass throw at the Elite 11
Eighteen of the nation's top quarterback prospects are putting their skills to the test at the Elite 11 Finals in Oregon this week, and Jawon Pass is among them.
The nation's No. 4 dual-threat quarterback prospect was hampered by some cramps on Monday, but improved on Day 2 with accurate passes and a pair of touchdown passes in game-type situations.
Pass and the other signal-callers have been working with former NFL quarterback Trent Dilfer during the event. They will compete in 7-on-7 game on ESPN later this week, and a "winner" will be crowned at the conclusion of The Opening.
As for his recruitment, Pass will be making his decision next week and has narrowed his choices to Alabama, Auburn and Louisville.
