Honestly, after following recruiting for so long, I have come to the conclusion that all recruiting analysts are full of crap to some degree, including Bone, 247 analysts, Cary Clark, etc. It's more of a continuum. Don't get me started with the douchey BOL insiders. rsfields has been posting Drew's info and pretending that it is coming from "his sources". I like hearing what Drew has to say, but I hate when rsfields et. al. pretend to have sources. If you heard it from Drew then just say so. If you can't say so, then say that you "read" that so and so was ready to commit etc.
I hope y'all know that I have no sources. The only time I had a source was knowing that TJ Yeldon was going to declare early, and that came from a buddy of his that I hang around.
The truth is with this staff, we can only guess who their priorities might be. Saban doesn't exactly have an open line of communication with any of the analysts, and I am sure he encourages the others to only leak what is necessary while keeping other things under wraps. Our recruiting board probably changes weekly depending on info/character reports/camps.
Also, we all fall victim to the troll. Many of us thought Travis Rudolph was coming because he grew up a fan of "the Roll Tide", and he even told analysts to keep their CB picks of him to UA.

Thanks ellitor for these notes. I always appreciate the Auburn perspective on recruits that are considering both teams

Pass notes & quotes from AUC LINK
-will commit July 13th
-Bama, Va. Tech, AU, Louisville, UF, UNC are finalists & even
-will be @ BCW til 1 or 2 then go to Louisville to help his bro move in
-will visit Bama June 8-10
- Will visit the other 5 finalists including a 2nd trip to AU between June 11-July 5, no dates set
quote:
Alabama: "They run a pro-style offense with open formations. They have a good offensive line and good players around them."
Auburn: "They have a good offensive line and a good defense. They have good athletes and it's right down the road."
Louisville: "My brother is going there. They run an open offense. I like coach (Bobby) Petrino's scheme. They have good wide receivers. They run a pro-style offense with quick offensive tackles."
Florida: "They are going to run the same offense they ran at Alabama. I've been talking with coach (Jim) McElwain. He's a good guy."
North Carolina: "Coach (Larry) Fedora is a class act. They make me feel at home. They have a real good offensive line coach (Chris Kapilovic). They have some good running backs and a new defensive coordinator (Gene Chizik). They have a good campus life and my teammate Javontay Smith is going there."
Virginia Tech: "The coaches said I can go there and play early. (Hokies quarterbacks) coach (Scot Loeffler) can develop me to play on the next level."

ellitor analysis:
1. The bolded Va. Tech quote might be the funniest thing a recruit has ever said.
2. The reasons he gave for AU aren't reasons alone I would pick a school. I would have to like the offense too and have great relationships w/ the coaches.
3. Sounds like Bama is standing out because he references them a couple times while talking about other teams & apparently wants to play in a pro-open style O.

I believe Pass will be the QB in our class. One of our offensive coaches (not Kiffin) thinks Pass is extremely tough/physical, and loves his attitude and upside. Reminds me a lot of Cardale Jones and Cam Newton.

A Class of 2017 QB from Georgia is visiting Alabama on Sunday. He's the #5 Pro-Style Passer in the class.

Last week, 5-star defensive tackle Ed Oliver sent shock waves through the recruiting world by announcing his commitment to his hometown Houston Cougars.
Oliver's pledge to Houston leaves only 13 high school defensive recruits with a 5-star rating from 247Sports' composite rankings without a commitment to a program.
From the nation's No. 1 overall player to a trio of stars from Alabama, these remaining players are the targets of fierce nationwide battles among college football's best.
This summer will be an extremely crucial time in the recruitments of each of these 13 stars. Important visits are scheduled for these upcoming months, and a few of them might join Oliver in selecting their schools before hitting the field this fall.
Here is a look at which schools are currently near the top of each uncommitted 5-star defensive player's lists and where the recruiting experts that make up 247Sports' Crystal Ball predictions expect to see them next season.

DE Marlon Davidson
Top Schools: Alabama, Auburn and Georgia
Crystal Ball Leader: Auburn (100 percent)
Auburn is the projected leader for one of the state of Alabama's three 5-star defensive players—talented defensive end Marlon Davidson, who is the younger brother of former Tiger defensive end Kenneth Carter.
While the vast majority of recruiting analysts think Davidson will follow in his title-winning brother's footsteps to the Plains, he says he is keeping his options wide-open. Alabama and Georgia are also major contenders for Davidson, along with Clemson and Florida State.
"Everybody thinks that [I'm going to Auburn]," Davidson told AL.com's Drew Champlin in February. "I'm looking to go anywhere in the country. If it's all the way in Washington D.C., I'll be ready to go."
