4-star running back Devin White rides shotgun with Nick Saban, enjoys Alabama visit

Devin White got the priority treatment on his visit to Alabama over the weekend.

White, a four-star recruit from Springhill, La., got to ride with head coach Nick Saban in his car to the A-Day game. It was much like his visit to Tuscaloosa for a Junior Day, when he did the same thing.

White is a star running back and linebacker for North Webster High School, but Alabama is recruiting him as a running back. He's ranked as the No. 149 prospect in the country by the 247Sports composite.

"Overall, it was another big visit," White said. "That was the second time I (rode in his car). We just talked some more. It was really nice."

The 6-foot, 235-pound White ran for 2,287 yards and 30 touchdowns as a junior and had 93 tackles. Alabama got a 2017 commitment from Najee Harris at the running back spot, but is still looking for its first 2016 pledge at the position.

"(Saban) told me the situation they had and told me what type of player I was," White said. "He let me know about the offense and he likes me as a person, great person and a great student-athlete. That was a plus for me and it let me know something good about me."

White also ran into recent Alabama running back signee Damien Harris from Berea, Ky., during his visit.

"Me and him, we linked up when were both at A-Day," White said. "If I come to 'Bama, me and him could be the next 1-2 punch. I got to know him."

White's offer list includes LSU, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Florida State, Texas A&M, Michigan, Nebraska, Georgia, Florida and others.

"Basically every school (is still in it), I'm trying to see every school," White said. "I don't have a list, I don't have a top 10 or favorites. Every school is on my list."

White qualified for Nike Football's The Opening in Beaverton, Ore., in July. He said by that point, he might release a top 10. He'll be taking summer classes so he can graduate early, and he said he'd likely announce at the All-American Game in early January or right after it so he can enroll in time.

White said his next trips are likely to Florida State, Ohio State and possibly Arkansas for another trip to Fayetteville. He said he'd like to visit Alabama again this summer.

"There are some great universities out there and I want to give them a chance and figure out what the best fit is for me," White said.
