Alabama assistant coach Mario Cristobal named 247Sports Recruiter of the Year

Alabama offensive line coach Mario Cristobal received some high praise for the Crimson Tide's No. 1 class according to 247Sports.

The service named Cristobal its National Recruiter of the Year for the 2015 signing class. Cristobal topped the rankings, finishing first with 84.87 points from his 10 recruits.

Cristobal edged out USC's Tee Martin by fewer than two points. Auburn's Tim Horton was third. Alabama running backs coach Burton Burns checked in at No. 10.

Cristobal, with his strong south Florida ties, reeled in 5-star receiver Calvin Ridley from Pompano Beach, Fla., and his teammate, 4-star safety Shawn Burgess-Becker.

Cristobal went to the northeast to reel in 5-star cornerback Minkah Fitzpatrick from Jersey City, N.J. Cristobal was also the primary recruiter for offensive linemen Lester Cotton from Tuscaloosa, Richie Petitbon from Washington, D.C., Matt Womack from Senatobia, Miss., Brandon Kennedy from Wetumpka and Dallas Warmack from Atlanta.

He also recruited top defensive tackle Daron Payne from Shades Valley and Christian Bell from Hoover. Bell, a defensive end, was not announced as a signee by Alabama but has been asked to grayshirt and delay full-time enrollment until Jan. 2016.

"He's a great coach and he's intense also," Kennedy said Wednesday.
