Golding is out making some in home recruiting trips for Bama. If he's gone, it will be after the bowl game, I guess

Just his name being linked with a job opening at this point in time should tell you all you need to know.

I can’t remember a time that Saban has actually publicly fired anybody. Maybe it’s happened and I just don’t remember. In each instance of incompetence (Applewhite, Nussmoron, others) they left after Saban landed them other jobs. Saban’s always been fairly gracious about these things.

Golding is looking.

Because he’s been told to look.

That’s what it looks like to me.

Bingo....Nick always allows assistant to get/try a new gig and then after they announce at their new school then he tells the press they're gone. Last year the DL coach was recruiting with Nick until the very end. You have to sign this early class 1st even though some recruits will not like that their position coach will be gone AFTER they sign.

I wish we would hire him. I know he wants to stay in the state to build years for retirement.

If Clark is a defensive coach, don't know much about him, he should definitely be considered. How much does he make at UAB?

He was a defensive coach when he wasn't a head coach at Prattville and UAB. He's an excellent defensive coach.

Kiffin is skipping his talk show tonight, his players will speak instead.. expect him to be Arkys new coach. That guy can’t transition into a new job without drama for shite.

He's making a mistake if he takes the Arkansas job. Ole Miss has a little talent to work with. Arkansas has a terrible roster and only 6 current 2020 commits. Morris was pretty much an unmitigated disaster for them. It will take 3 years minimum before they can field a competitive team again, much less a good one.

But the guy can recruit and can coach offense. Not sure if he can manage a P5 program.
Will have to prove if he learnt anything from Saban.
If Arky sees real progress in Yr 2 he will be given time to prove himself.

2018 deal...…..UAB coach Bill Clark isn’t going anywhere.
The school today announced "an agreement in principle has been reached" with Clark, making him the highest-paid coach in Conference USA. The new deal runs through 2024 and pays him $1.45 million and calls for raises to $1.65 million during the contract's term.

Hey we can match that pay for a DC. He can shed the headaches and stress of a Head Coach and concentrate on his true love.

To be honest, he would probably be the best option for a long term DC for Bama but dont see it happening.
There's a reason UAB is aggressive in keeping him long term. He's a home run coach for them.
We could probably offer him around 2M but not sure he would make that jump.

Yeah, but setting aside his desire to stay in state for a moment, a P5 head coach job pays a helluva lot more than $1.5 million. Ole Miss or Arkansas could double that, not break a sweat and think they got a bargain in the process. And he's proven he's a damn good coach. Maybe he's happy on Southside. More power to him.

Money always talks but from living in the Prattville area and having coached here, i know he's got a strong desire to stay in state. You saw that when he didnt leave after the debacle that closed the UAB program temporarily.

One of the biggest issues with pulling him in as an assistant is that he would want full autonomy to build and control the entire defense. Let's be honest, right or wrong, that doesn't happen with Saban. That why we continue to cycle through young, unproven assistants.

Everyone on here that works for a living understands that we wouldn't want to be 100% responsible for something that we don't have 100% control over.

If it were me, I'd throw 2M at him, offer him full control over the defense and make him turn it down.

Top that off with Saban actively paying up to keep him away from OU and Ole Miss last season, he definitely would be given every opportunity to look elsewhere before something like a public firing happens.

If helton got fired and Meyer had been brought in, I would be more worried about B Young. As it stands, even if Sark goes I don't think he would immediatly be looking to flip.
