Let's take a poll. We all know saban is a defensive genius and is going to play the best man. But do you honestly think he plays the best man that gives us the best chance to win? I don't claim to know more but at some point, your own 2 eyes see what's blatant. Cyrus Jones has been getting abused a lot. I'm not using terms like sucks and is the worst to ever play or anything. I think he is decent. He lacks size, gets picked on, and has gotten straight up beat too many times. I love all of our players but I think if cyrus struggles against AU we have to get tony brown in there to keep from giving up big plays.

What do Yall think? Don't crucify me, I just honestly would like to see TB in there because I as a fan, not a coach, feel he gives us the best chance to win. I don't think saban trusts him because of his attitude and experience level.

No, not really. He has been playing really well. Proud of the kid.

Hmm, I've never seen anything negative about Brown's attitude.

Cyrus has played great all year. He had a pretty bad game Saturday, but a lot of guys did

I think Tony Brown has been pretty bad when he's been in.

Brown isn't ready to be a full time starter yet. That should've been evident against Mississippi.

Cyrus' lack of height does hurt him but he's been exceptional the majority of the year. Even when mostly matched up against Wilson he only gave up 6 catches for 68 yards on 13 targets against State (according to PFF).

I don't.

That has been CNS's problem since he arrived at UA. His loyalty to certain players and reputation of neglecting discipline and focus as a coach has followed him at all stops. I just hope to be able to steal Miles or Richt whenever the powers that be are ready to make a move.

Cyrus is no DreKirk or Milliner, but he's been solid.

Brown will get his chance to shine. He's just raw as Frick right now. Anyone who follows recruiting knows that he is a project. He was when he committed and he still is. I think Cyrus is probably the best we have right now.

A better example of the loyalty/trust factor might be Christion Jones. He's had a less than stellar year and yet still gets to start.

Cyrus has improved. He got abused on the first drive, then he went back to the way he has been playing, which is a high level.

He DOES get picked on because of his size, but his athletic and technical ability makes up for it. He has been getting better with each passing week.

Next year we need to play Cyrus, EJ, AND TB. Maybe Cyrus and EJ in base and Cyrus slides to Star in Nickel and TB comes in. Or play TB at Star. Whichever works, but all three need to play.

He is right, and it is well known. Saban plays lesser talent because he trusts them more. That isn't always the best decision, but he gets paid to make that choice.

Don't forget Humphrey. Our dime package should be pretty filthy next year.

EJ
Brown
Cyrus
Mo Smith
Geno
Humphrey
Washington

We are going to have a lot of talent and experience in the secondary next year. Lots of depth at corner and two safeties with experience at corner.

To that note, it doesn't matter how talented you are if you aren't sure what's going on. The guys that aren't sure of themselves don't play fast, so their talent doesn't even show up on the field. A 4.6 guy that knows the scheme inside and out is going to play faster than a 4.3 guy that doesn't.

You, my friend, know about football. Alot of people blame the player and not the system for our cb failures. I'm pretty sure if you plugged Cyrus or any of our corners in a LSU or Mickey Andrews 90's FSU defense, which allows them to just be athletes and not true corners, we would see different results. Saban system takes time and so far I can say Cyrus has been our best CB this year.

I don't think Cyrus is the best. Just better than Brown atm. There is a reason he gets thrown at so much. I like Eddie. He is still a little raw, but he shows glimmers of greatness.

This might be true, but Saban seems to like the kid and his play has been surprisingly good this year, compared to last year. I think he is targeted alot due to his size, which is smart for any QB/OC to do against a 5'9 defender.

I like Eddie also, but I have wondered is a change to Free Safety possible in the future? He is a good corner, but I personally believe he could become an All-American FS with his ability to play the ball when it is in front of him. I'm just overall excited with the talent we have and think our DB play will only get better.

This, and I don't care how well Saban recruits, Bama isn't going to have a first round draft pick at corner every single year. Jones has done really well since the WVU game.

We could always replace Cyrus Jones with Bradley Sylve.

I actually think Sylve gets a raw deal. Sure he got toasted against WVU. But he was up against Kevin White much of the game and that dude is a straight up beast. Sylve hasn't had much opportunity since then
