I was deeply concerned after the should-have-been-victory-but-instead-skip-pass-to-Benson snap that Reichard would have to attempt a punt against all-out block. He did well enough in relief but we lost all our directional punting that gives some potential advantages to the coverage unit. Additionally, I don't want to see Reichard to wear his leg out handling all the kick+punt duties. We are likely going to need him to continue his very reliable FG kicking season to get wins over the next few weeks.

Hopefully Burnip is back next week...

Talty punted in HS, so maybe he can take over punting duties if Burnip misses any time.

Yeah, according to the CBS sideline reporter he came out before the end of halftime. I don’t know what the hell that means - imprecise language tsk tsk - because he could’ve just been shooting the shite with the specialists or doing punt work.

I was drinking during the game but I feel like I recall Reichard booming punts.

Oh, he did better than we could ever ask for as an emergency punter. We lost some games we could play with directionality. He was mostly just booting it straight away but with more than adequate hang time.

Reichard was better than half a dozen punters we’ve had going back to the Shula era IMO.

Will is fine short term but Burnip may be the best punter in the nation. We need to get him healthy by UT game or very latest LSU after the bye. Can’t remember the last time we lost a punter to injury. I don’t think he even got hit. Just pulled something kicking. Terrible luck.

apparently he pulled a muscle attempting to make the tackle on that punt... As Coach said last week, "I dont want the kickers to make tackles" this was in response to a presser ? about Talty's tackle on the KO return.
Maybe Burnip was trying to one up Talty?.. anyway, Burnip it the holder for Will on PAT and FG's hope that doesnt cost the team during crunch time and when there is a real need for a 1 or a 3

He continued to do the holding in the game so I’d imagine he will be ok in short order. Btw 31 is a Bama legend now lol.

Will can do anything to include be a WR or play safety, he’s the best player in the country. Ask around.

He was like Brodie, he could be walking down the sidewalk and tear his ACL.

I'd hope a couple extra punts over the course of a 3 hour game wouldn't wear down a 20 year old college athlete

But we didn't even lose Lane to injury though. He put off surgery and punted with a damn torn ACL. And still tried to decleat every returner. Guy was the best kind of insane.

Kicking is a game of inches, it absolutely does matter

I’m pretty sure the initial injury came from a fake punt against Arky. Dude punted through it though.

True, but we lost Reichard for a season a few years ago when he was injured punting. Hopefully he's filled his bad luck quota already. It would be a lot better if we could find another temporary punter. Not probable, though.
