Shane Lyons from WVU would be the best choice.

Shane sounds good to me.
I sure as hell hope Battle isn't the AD when Saban retires.

Would want Ozzie as well.
Leaving Baltimore, I bet would be tough for him

Ozzie is more than likely not leaving the Ravens. He's in love the NFL and he's a damn good GM.
Wish he would, but he's probably destined to stay in Baltimore.

Do you have a list of who you would choose?

No. Sorry for running your thread :(

Why so far we all seem to love the Avery hire after he barely missed on of the best coaches in CBB. It seems like everyone is a fan of the baseball hire.

Battle has gotta get those wack arse emails outta here though

Dream hire is obviously Ozzie. Would be nice to finally have another black AD in the SEC after Damon Evans was such a disaster.

It ain't gonna matter who the AD is after Saban retires because there's not a coach out there that'll be able to live up to the expectations that Saban has established. I'm not sure how many good/established coaches would want to immediately follow Saban; I think I'd rather be the guy that follows the guy that follows Saban. That AD will catch a lot of flak...a decent portion of the fan base will say the AD sucks the first time the new coach loses 3+ games...
I like Battle but, whenever he steps down, I'd like to see either Newsome, or perhaps Saban himself, as AD but I doubt that either scenario is realistic...

Probably not, but I don't think anyone should expect the same kind of success either. We all want the success to be sustained, but there isn't really anyone out there that can emulate the same kind of success. Honestly, we're witnessing something rare. We should always set the bar at the natty, but I would be perfectly fine if the next HC consistently won 9-11 games a year and beat our rivals.

I would not want to be the AD after Saban retires. Whatever else you want to say about Battle, he has handled the relationship with Saban well and Avery was a home run I/m/o.

Can't wait for the Lyon's Den emails

I would be as well, but I'm not sure all Bama fans would be. Even then, not sure how realistic that would be...we've only had 2 coaches since the Bear that have done that, Stallings, who, from what I've read/heard might've been "encouraged" to retire, and Saban. Heck, I think we've only had 5 coaches consistently win 9-11 games a year and beat our rivals in the history of Bama football...and all 5 have statues...
