Lots of youngsters in this thread.

Homework assignment...somebody go back and take a quick glance at the top 4 or 5 receivers in school history...and remember, this guy basically got all his receiving stats in only two 12 game seasons...and then fill in number 84.

Edit...hint: Imagine DJ Hall's reaction had Saban come in his first year and told DJ that they weren't gonna throw him the ball anymore and that he just wanted him to block.

If you are talking about Ozzie Newsome I believe he wore #82, not #84.

I think he's talking about David Bailey.

Other notable 84s:

Bill Battle
John Croyle
Roman Colburn
Triandos Luke
Holla McGee

Oh, in that case, I simply would have told him we don't have a QB to throw to you as the most prolific passer in Alabama football history, at least up to that point, had just graduated.

I'm pretty sure Bailey understood.

I don't think that Bear Bryant ditched his whole offensive philosophy and went to the Wishbone for the rest of his career just because he didn't have confidence in Terry Davis as a passer.

Bailey absolutely understood and did his job well without complaining. DJ Hall never would have put up with it and would have become even more of a malcontent. And that's primarily why I would take Bailey over Hall every time.

Listen, Julio is a clearcut winner at #8.

But I loved Freddie Roach on defense when he played. Seemed like he made 20 tackles a game. Just wanted to give a shout out to FR.

In the honorable mentions for #12 I think you have to go with Brodie. I know we tend to elevate the status of players with rings but sometimes great players simply don't have the pieces around them.
