Stewart needs to be returning kick offs and punt returns. We haven't had a return for TD all year. He also needs to start over chris jones in the slot. Chris Black should also get more PT with stewart over jones. Extremely disappointing year for Christion.

I agree. Hate it for Christion, but Stewart looks like a better player. I don't know how well he can block, but I'm surprised by him.

He seems faster/quicker than I thought. I assumed he was a solid athlete, but he looked VERY explosive without the ball in his hands the other day. Would love to see us feed him this Saturday.

Chris Jones just doesn't look like the player he once was. He looked explosive at WR and had way more speed years prior to this year. He also looks so frail.

I mean, his yard per catch is up this year, we just haven't thrown to him a lot.

That said he has dropped a lot of ball and that fumble vs Ole Miss will not be forgotten unless we win the NC.

His best play of the year is the catch against LSU

I like Stewart at KR and PR too but I like chris black in the slot. He's a pure WR. I like Stewart coming out of the back field and on sweeps and In on designed plays. I like black in base offense much better than anyone

We've heard good things about Stewart but that's about it. Failed to get any separation on his 2 vertical routes against State.

I also remember a time when people were saying Black > Cooper

I will say our return game has been abysmal. Just look at the stats. One thing that has plagued Jones each of the last 3 years is lining up too deep on punts resulting in the ball dropping and rolling in front of him time and time again.

That's on the coaches, IMO.

True. I wonder if Christion also struggles at judging the depth of punts once it is kicked though. Two years ago when Christion and Cyrus were alternating fricking up PRs, Cyrus' problem was fumbling after catching the punt whereas Christions' problem was usually fumbling an attempt to make a running catch on balls that bounced in front of him. I know sometimes the ball is just shanked and there's no way the PR can get to it, but it seems to be more of a problem with Christion than most

Hell when we get into the playoff game and national title game, let Cooper return kicks. Nothing to lose then. He was incredible in HS and the UA AA Game

Uh, you could lose your best WR for the rest of the game.

Same thing could happen on a slant where he gets his knee blasted? He at least has the opportunity to get down with vision in front of him on returns. Gurley returned for UGA and didn't get hurt until he played his position. That kind of paranoia is for the regular season worrying about keeping guys healthy the whole season. This is for all the marbles.

Jones was one of the ringleaders of the fun vacuum last year and it came into this year. I have on good authority that after the Ole Miss game he was cornered by some of his friends and teammates and basically given the hard talk. If you notice he didn't drop another punt and was actually having fun. I think he turned a dark corner. JMO

I agree. Christion hasn't been the same player he once was. I remember his freshman year, I always thought he would have the most solid hands. Just lost his burst

We made it alot easier on him in returing punts... "just fair catch it Christion, that is all." On KR he still has a tendency to switch arms midrun which hasn't hurt us since Ole Miss but still problematic, just an observation.

Stewart is an explosive athlete, Alabama 2A State Champ in the 100m and 200m dashes in 2013. Times in both events are comparable to the times of Kenyan Drake in high school.

Drake
100m PR- 10.83
200m PR- 21.91

Stewart
100m PR-10.83
200m PR- 22.01

Stewart was also the Alabama 2A State Champ in the Discus as well.

Man, CJ is just sooo hesitant on kickoff returns, I'm afraid he's gonna get blasted every time. Something mental is going on with him.

Jones doesn't start at the slot because of his pass catching. He starts at the slot because of his blocking. He's as physical a blocker as there is at WR.

The only player who has hurt his stock more than OJ is Jones. Not sure what has happened.

He had separation in the deep pass over the middle but Blake threw to the wrong side. Stewart will be a star. A friend of mine was his hs head coach . So I got to see him play a good bit. He has since added some good weight and even more speed. He came from a small school with not much of a weight program etc. Look for a huge game from him on Sat. Finna eat n shite
