Article from al.com on his funeral, including quotes from his high school coach and Mike Groh, his recruiter at Alabama. LINK

You know I think the crappy game they played against Tennessee might be connected to them being distraced by this. Which is certainly understandable. I know Kamara was his friend too but other than him nobody at UT knew Tenpenny.
My guess is UT's theme this offseason will be "we are almost good enough to beat Bama" and next year we will NOT be as tired and NOT be as distracted and beat them like the burnt orange rented mule that they are.

You just don't hit on all cylinders in all games, in fact it is really only in 3-4 games/year. And Tennessee played really well and very physical. You actually need these types of games but can't really plan to have one. Jake having the game on the line late in the 4th quarter was a plus for his and the rest of the team's development. This team is a work in progress and some people aren't comfortable with that. I actually like this team and their progress.

IMO, the game Saturday was a perfect storm. Saban even said during the presser that some of the guys weren't as focused during practice and it could all be attributed to the untimely passing of Altee along with the bitter grind of the season.
Add in those factors with the fact that Tennessee is an extremely talented team and was also refreshed coming off a BYE week, it was setup perfectly for a major letdown.
Saban's remarks (defending and praising the resolve of the team) in the press conference(s) kinda echo that and I see it similarly to the way he defended the team after the Arkansas game last week.
That article on Altee was touching. Definitely another one gone too soon. RIP...
