I think the only way Tua plays is if he is able to beat Jalen out for the starting spot, which I don't think he will, or if Jalen gets injured. I think they will redshirt him. The only way they wouldn't is if he is forced to play.

Why Alabama's incoming wide receiver class is so impressive
quote:

Of the top 12 wide receivers in this year's recruiting class, one-third of them are going to Alabama.

Only one school got more than one of the top 12 receivers in the class -- Alabama. The Crimson Tide got four. That doesn't even include Chadarius Townsend, one of the top-ranked "athletes" in this year's class who currently plans to play wide receiver for the Crimson Tide.

Many schools would be ecstatic to land one five-star player in its entire recruiting class. Alabama landed three five-stars just at wide receiver.

Jerry Jeudy is a five-star, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Devonta Smith and Henry Ruggs were each rated as five-stars by at least one of the four recruiting websites. Add in consensus four-stars Tyrell Shavers and Townsend and you have a ridiculously deep and talented wide receiver class.

"I think we're going to have the best receiving core in the country," Shavers said.

Jeudy is the headliner, a 6-foot-1, 177-pound South Florida product who comes from the same area as recent Alabama All-American wide receiver Amari Cooper and current Tide standout receiver Calvin Ridley.

Jeudy was the No. 3 receiver and No. 21 overall prospect in this year's class, according to the 247 Composite.

Smith was the No. 9 wide receiver in the class, per the 247 Composite. Ruggs was No. 11. Shavers was No. 12.

Smith and Ruggs are both "very fast and very explosive," according to Alabama coach Nick Saban said. So is Shavers, who ran a 4.38 40-yard dash at 6-foot-6, 200 pounds at a recruiting event last year.

The 6-foot, 190-pound Townsend was the sixth-ranked athlete in the class, a local product from Tanner who played quarterback in high school.

Alabama coaches have told him that he reminds them of fellow former high school quarterback ArDarius Stewart, who was a first-team All-SEC wide receiver for the Tide last season.

"There's a lot of people coming in," Townsend said of the receiver class. "It's going to be great competition."
