Isn’t it nice to lay claim to the two greatest coaches of All-time? Saban and Bear will probably never be topped.

That 2007 team should have finished with a much better record than they did.

They probably shouldn't have began with as good of a record as they did.

It had 9-4 talent. But 7-6 or worse attitude.

Funny, I randomly thought about DJ Hall yesterday and looked him up. I found an article about him never living up to his potential because he didn't have the work ethic. Seems like that was a problem for a few guys on that '07 team.

The article said that DJ actually got beat up by a teammate because he and some other players were badmouthing Saban and the coaches and trying to turn the team against them. I didn't get to watch much football in '07 because of my job so I missed a lot of that.

The textbook suspensions hurt. Two of those guys were starters on the OL, including All American center Antoine Caldwell.

Seniors who wouldn't buy in and needed to just leave didn't help.

And JPW's 100+ yard pick six against MSU with :04 left in the half probably single-handedly lost that game. That play alone was at least a 10 point swing in a 17-12 game. Instead of going into the locker room up at least 12-3, we were down 10-9. That lead would have held, as MSU only managed 7 more points the rest of the game.

Wallace Gilberry was the one senior from that '07 team that I loved watching play. He had an incredible year that year. I think he had something absurd like 30 tackles for loss.
