People put way too much stock into exhibition games. John Wall had to hit a buzzer beater for Kentucky to win an exhibition game and they went to the elite eight that year.

seriously? your gonna compare this bama team's upside, with the upside of john wall and that ky team?

i'm more inclined to believe that this team will resemble what you seen last night. as opposed to john wall and that ky team.

time will tell

I meant to check back in this thread last night...boy am I glad I didn't..Looks like a losing season in the SEC? How much is Levi going to actually help us? I understand he'll make the team a lot better but one guy isn't going to determine if we're good or not.

Come on man. This is the same bullshite we have seen the last 4 years. Everyone was saying that our offense just needed X,Y, or Z to really get it going, but nothing ever changes even if we get those things. Last year we finally had at least mediocre 3pt shooting, and we scored 37 fricking points against an Auburn team that would probably lose to some good AAU teams. We are going to play the same boring, Jimmy Chitwood style pre-shot clock style offense that we have always had under Grant, we are going to be in the NIT again, Grant will get another year that he doesn't deserve, we will all convince ourselves that a PG like Coleman is the missing piece, and we will run the same boring, pitiful offense once again in 2014-2015.

I won't blame him for Pollard being a criminal though.

Yeah there have been some things that have worked against him. But regardless, when you're in your 5th year the time for excuses is over. He needs to make the big dance and win one tourney game. Anything short of that and it's the axe. And given our current roster, I'd say it would be a miracle if this team even sniffs the postseason.

the only thing that has changed over the past 15 years or so of Alabama basketball has been some of the music played during timeouts.

Everything you said is right on the money sir, but this part may have even been too generous. I'd be surprised if there is any postseason at all. Well maybe that CBI tournament, or whatever it's called, will invite us.

:sigh:

The perception from the administration certainly hasn't changed much.

Bama basketball could be great, would anyone argue it is great now?

I agree with everything you've said, but while a True PG won't fix our offense, it would certainly help our terrible offense. The only thing we ever run that is even close to resembling a play is a pick and roll. I can't even recall the last time I've seen Releford pass the ball to the roller. I love the kid and his scoring ability, but he is a short shooting guard with handles. It would not shock me to see him put up 18+ ppg this year, but his inability to distribute kills our already terrible offense's production.

We're in a predicament because if we fire Grant this year, we likely lose all of our 3 or 4 commits and we will have some inevitable transfers on top of that. We'd look a lot like MSSU did last year, maybe worse. That's a deep hole for any coach to dig out of, including someone like Bruce Pearl (if we were lucky enough to hire a guy of that quality). If we fire Grant this year (not likely), I'd hope we do it early, and find a good, but quick replacement like Pearl. Give the new guy a chance to win over our current commits and/or recruit some of the left-overs.

I will agree to some extent...but I don't remember us blowing out one single pantsy last year.

Also to note Syracuse lost their exhibition in 09 and were a #1 seed in the tourny...so I gets there is still a little hope that we aren't as bad as barn
