Never really got it with Bateman and honestly had a feeling we were gonna lose to Ole Miss when I saw he was starting. I just think he is very mediocre and while he is athletic, he isn't athletic enough to make up for the rest of his game.

His refusal to ever keep the damn ball when they ran all of those zone read plays with him against Ole Miss was making me go insane. He could have ran for days on some of them if he had made the right read.

I think Barnett is the guy. He's Kiffin's prized QB recruit, and a 5 star to boot. If he is as talented as they say and gets is mentally, I don't see how he doesn't start. Bateman just doesn't strike me as having "it".

Going with Barnett...if he's as good as advertised I don't see anyone beating him out.
Wouldn't surprise me if JH is used on offense other than the qb position

I guess I missed it but what happened to him? I could've sworn I read "things" saying he was looking great last year.

Remember both Sims and Coker were written off because they were not impressive before they became starters. Remember that when everyone writes off Bateman. He is a veteran, has played a good bit and even started a game. Has good size and is athletic. He will not give it to BB6, will be a real battle. And Cornwell has the size and strength to make a move if he can get out of the doghouse.

All that said, my money is on BB6.

If I had to rank them as far as who has the best chance from top to bottom to start NEXT year, I'd say...

1. Blake Barnett - Kiffins boy
2. David Cornwell - Strong arm and big
3. Cooper Bateman - wasn't impressed AT ALL last season
4. Jalen Hurts - almost a guarantee to redshirt unless he comes out in spring practice looking like Vince Young

I got Barnett. All the other Qb's will eventually transfer out. Barnett has fours years left.

What's your point? Bateman playing for a quarter and a half against OM doesn't mean we've seen him as a full-time starter. We haven't. In the OM game he completed 11/14 passes, where he really messed up was not taking off for big ground gains when they were there. He could easily improve heading into 2016 just like Sims did in 14 and Coker did in 15. We will see.

We've seen Bateman take way more actual meaningful snaps than the other guys you mentioned.

Same thing with McElroy. With Star Jackson and AJ McCarron coming in as talented highly recruited 4 star guys, I didn't think McElroy had a chance. And from my understanding, he didn't win the job until the final week of fall camp.

Bateman has peaked, although they may give him the experience nod.

Barnett has all the tools you would want, I've seen him in every spring scrimmage behind the scrubs and he still made plays.

Jalen might very well be guy everyone thinks he is, if he comes in and lights it up. Who knows.

I am rooting for Blake, in part because I'd love to have 3 years of consistency at that position (assuming it's consistently good).

Also, had he stuck with this jersey number, we could have had our own BB-8.
