Great PR bump for the league going into a year when it was already going to get some buzz.

Alabama beat South Carolina twice. South Carolina beat Duke. Alabama is better than Duke. Jk

I'm loving this moral victory. Idc. Hate seeing these rich kids at Duke get every call their way. Finally got knocked around by some Southern boys tonight and we saw what happened.

The more I see about Gal in the more I am excited. Can't remember the last time we've had an effort big.

Alabama women won again, move on to Sweet 16 of the NIT (it's a full 64 team bracket). They play Tulane at home on Thursday.

G/F Herb Jones

I'm not going to be surprised if he comes in and outplays Petty, at least the first year.

And that's not necessarily a knock on Petty.

I'd be very surprised.

I'd be surprised too. Petty has seen better competition more consistently and, physically, looks more ready.

I think Jones is more of a project.

Yep...been on the major AAU circuit a lot longer. I view him as a Rodney Cooper type potential wise. Cooper and Levi had the bodies and the skill to be a lot better than they were but not on the first day.

Petty has also benefitted from very good teammates. That Jemison team would probably beat some small college teams. So, it goes both ways.

I'm not saying Jones WILL outplay him. But, I'm not going to be shocked.

Feel bad for Arkansas after yesterday's bull shite. They pretty much beat UNC in every statistical category, other than the boards and FT shooting.

Regardless, good fight by Arkansas to nearly knock off one of the ACC's best.

I desperately hope we just get into the tournament next year and maybe get a win. No disrespect to any of the programs, but South Carolina, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, and even poor Ole Miss have gotten into the tournament and picked up wins since we last won one in 2006. I think we'll be better equipped next year offensively inside, but losing an active rebounder like Bola will result in a drop off. We definitely need Giddens to live up to his hype for us to be a true contender like we want.

I haven't read much about Herb, but Petty is a pretty good defender and can bank shots off the dribble. If Herb can create his own shots and is a good ball handler, then we really hit jackpot in this class.

Losing Bola is zero concern for me. I like the guy, and he is a great rebounder. But, he's below average in every other category. Even if the rebounding slips a little, any other player will make up for it in scoring, ball handling, free throws, or defense.

Yeah, I love that he dominates the boards, especially on the offensive end, but there were a lot of times he would go back up with the ball and get stuffed or turn it over immediately.

Bola only averaged 16 minutes per game. That's only 2 more than Armond.

Yeah I wish Bola brought more, but a lot of his work is under appreciated because we had no one last year offensively that could capitalize on 2nd chance opportunities. We finished 46th in offensive rebounds per game, and top 40 in rebound margin, but still couldn't convert them into points. With more offensive weapons to distribute the ball too, we'd be in better shape.

Not overly concerned about our bigs next year, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't the least bit concerned about losing a guy that averaged close to 6.5 rebounds per game.

True, but he also got more PT as the season progressed. We were 12 games into the season and the most had had played was 22 minutes. After the UK game he got more PT and reached double figures in rebounds 5 times in 11 games, compared to only 4 times prior to the UK game.
