How confident were you in Nick Saban?

Be honest.

I never had a doubt he'd be successful at Alabama. I also couldn't have dreamed he'd be THIS successful at Alabama.

It was an embarrassing loss but it didn't sway me one way or the other. Had to wait and see what he did when he got his players and his system runnin' on all cylinders...and, as another already stated, I never dreamed he'd win 4 national championships while he was here, even before that loss...

I still felt that he was going to do good things but never imagined he was going to take us to where we are today.
You have to remember that he inherited a team that was lazy and bringing fried chicken to team meetings. They had no discipline and no structure, my how things have changed.

Honestly, I'm surprised we haven't had a few more of those. It was his MO before he got to Bama. He had an almost yearly loss to a Monroe or to a UAB. I'm glad he has exorcised that demon; those type losses are frustrating and embarrassing.

Had the sad but I was still hopeful. Had to give Saban time to get things his way.

Embarrassed yes, but not worried. We were having a pretty good season until the textbook 5 were suspended.

I know he had a loss to somebody like UAB in his 1st year at LSU. But I don't think he had any of those types of losses after year 1.

100%

Looking back, That was not "his" team so to speak. And it was his way of hitting the reset button before implementing the Process.

I'm not saying he lost that game on purpose. But don't you find it funny that he lost to UAB in a similar fashion before igniting LSU?

After the Dubose, Fran and Shula years I was numb to the pain.

I remember coming back to win the Arkansas game that year and proclaimed Saban was worth the $4 mil for that win alone.

Even after the loss, I STILL felt confident that he would be successful... I remember during te Independence Bowl, a commentator stated, "he doesn't have that Nck Saban level talent yet but it's coming".... Figured he'd need a few years to get the last of Shula's recruits out but I've that happened, he would be very good. When I say good, I thought, Stallings level good but not GOAT good!!

He didn't.

After the UAB loss, his LSU teams didn't lose to another unranked OOC opponent during the remainder of his tenure.

I didn't really lose confidence, I was so used to Bama being bad by that point so it really didn't worry me much.

TBH. I didn't like Saban at all. I new there was a chance he could do something special at Bama. With everything that happened leading up to his hiring, I never imagined he would be here this long. Now he's one of the greatest to ever walk the sidelines at the Capstone.
