The biggest problem with our oline is the inconsistency. Some plays like the scoring play at the end of the game with Henry, we executed it nicely. Then we have plays where guys just get beat, and arent even close enough to even try to hold the guy.

We won, and that is all that matters. The only problem with this win is the perception that Bama had a close game against an opponent they should of beat soundly. They look at tenn as a 3-3 team and not one that was a couple plays away from being possible undefeated. Look at what they did to UF but I don't see people down playing UF win.

Anyone else notice something I have ? Coker when he gets pressured is not throwing the ball up for grabs, he is throwing it at one of our guys feet or scrambling and trying to get as much as he can and gaining a yard or two or taking the sack. That shows growth.

Also, I just rewatched the game. On Tenn. last drive (this is funny) when they scrambled and threw the pass that got juggled around and they finally caught it for a first down, watch the pre snap goings on. Their right end (Big O-Lineman) stepped back with his right foot for all the world to see, at least a foot or foot and a half, and he just knew they were going to call it, so when they snap the ball he stayed froze... and our left end flys by him, he never moves, LOL, and we should have sacked the QB, but we let him get away.

That is the first time I have ever seen a guy so guilty, that on the snap, he refuses to block.

He needs to throw more balls away. He took a few bad sacks because he thought he could juke away from 3 defenders.

True, but that is better than throwing the ball up for grabs, he is in essence a first year starter.

These fakes to Henry take too long, either run the ball to where the ends are bum rushing, back at them, or set up in the shotgun and lets get to the pass plays. I think we are getting to many negative playes because we are getting the plays off late also.

Yep. Selling fakes too hard.

Can you imagine how well this offense would click with Stoutland or Pendry in that role?? Hell, if we had Kiffin at OC in 2010 with Pendry still helming the O-Line, we could have won FOUR IN A ROW.

That's the real answer. It is particularly telling down close.

On both FG drives last night, Bama had second and 5 you less. In both cases, Bama ran Henry (don't remember if Coker was under center or not) and in both cases the OL got blown up and Henry was dropped for a loss of 1 or 2 yards forcing a third down pass attempt.

That ain't on Coker, it ain't on Kiffin, it ain't on Henry. It is on the OL and when it is completely, utterly, predictable you have to start looking past the players and at the coaching.

Bama ran the ball 42 times and passes it 27 times last night (yes, sacks counted as runs but the jet sweeps count as passes so it is pretty much a wash). That is a 61% run heavy game plan. The folks yelling for Bama to just run the ball are venting and missing the real issue - which is the OL is failing to get it done far, far too often.

i still believe everything starts with the oline. this version of oline is without discipline. these guys are jumping at movement by defenders like never under saban. his very first season here wasnt this bad. i'm wondering if big cam has bulked up to a point where he doesnt think hes quick enough to hande a speed rusher and hes trying to get an edge to keep the angle. either way hes having a hard time maintaining the discipline he had as a freshman. lets face it, yesterday wasnt the first time our oline was mia this year. christabol seems to be a very good recruiter and so-so oline coach, at best.

Derrick Henry had 28 carries yesterday

I don't see how anyone could watch him get stuffed and hit behind the line as much as he does and think that running more is the solution

I wish we could. But we don't have the O-line to do it right now.

We could line up in that formation and fans would come on here and bitch that we should have thrown it 25+ times. Alabama football fans are a miserable bunch at times and are seemingly unpleasable.

I don't care if we run or pass.*

I don't care what formation we use.*

*As long as we are moving the ball, preferably towards the opponents goal line rather than our own
