This was also the first time Dazon played with the new guys in front of a crowd. He was injured and missed the Canadian tour. He didn't look bad for his first time out there.

No he didn't look bad. Guess I'm just excited for the new guys. They all just look better than the young guys we are used to. Didn't seem shook.

I'm a little worried that Dazon and Key play at a slower speed than Sexton and Petty

That and they are all great at FT defense

And I think he may be a little prone to turnovers because of that, at least early on. But, I think he'll create enough early opportunities to more than make up for it.

Agree. I expect there to be a maturing process throughout the early season. There will be times where he's wild as a buck, might even throw a few passes into the 3rd row, but also make SCs top 10 on a regular basis. But as the season goes on, and Lil General gets his influence on him more, things will settle down. I'm just glad they've had all summer to work together, because somebody could get busted in the face not being ready for one of his passes.

Auburn supposedly curb stomped/easy double digit W vs Georgia Tech without Austin Wiley/Danjel Purifoy. Which is really cool.... except Tech was without Tadric Jackson/Josh Okogie who were #1/#3 PPG for GT last year

Even without Purifoy/Wiley, Auburn should be really good this year. If it wasn't for our god awful SOS, I'd say evem w/o them they are a tournament team sans injury/player breakdown

That's interesting. I expected Auburn to win but I thought GT would keep it close. It's hard to know how good teams are tho when they're missing key players.

Eh, I'd be surprised if they kept it close. Auburn should be significantly better than GT even if JO/TJ played

So AU obviously was bad last year, but people, even AU fans, ignore the obvious reason why Auburn sucked harder than they should: injuries at 4/PF

Danjel Purifoy was our leading scorer/only stretch 4 pre high ankle sprain 1/7 vs Ole Miss. He only missed 3 games but returned a shell of what he was. Huge defensive liability due to ankle + completely altered offensive game (Went from ~6 2pt FG att/game to ~1 2pt FG att/game). So why did Auburn play a clearly crippled PF? Our bandaid option PF/Horace Spencer, who filled in admirably, had a season ending shoulder injury

Going forward, Auburn now has multiple stretch 4 options and shouldn't have horrible depth issues even if Wiley/Purifoy are forced out

His ssituation is weird missing half SO year + out of position. Spencer out of HS was extremely athletic but equally raw. What should have happened was Spencer develop as a stretch 4 and play w ball in his hands

What ended up happening was Spencer's athleticism/post D made him de facto backup 5/C Playing out of position

When Spencer filled in at the 4/PF last year for Purifoy, he showed a lot of promise and it clearly was better fit. He just got injured

You guys have any expectations for our Women's team this year? I know most of you said NIT again, but is there any reason we should maybe expect a tournament team with the experience we have coming back?

I think NIT should absolutely be the floor for their season with the most realistic shot of making the big dance in forever.
