We're a 16 seed. We should just be thankful we're playing at home.
Seriously, the only reason we're just barely at 16 is because of Rhoads Stadium and the NCAA needs us to host if at all possible.

You're right. Hell, Minnesota is 54-3 and, IMO, got hosed by the committee. I'm pulling for Alabama big time, but I doubt seriously that they get out of Tuscaloosa (La. Tech ain't no slouch either). We've got to face the fact that you don't beat many good teams when you're carrying a 2-3 run ceiling offensively.

Lol, I love everyone of Twitter griping about Minnesota being hosed, when in reality..... Alabama is being punished.

How do you go 54-3 and not get a national seed. Is ther RPI in the 100s.

quote:WTF? Gophers got to travel 1500 miles south to play in front of what will be a very loud and hostile crowd at all their games compared to the home field advantage and all the perks that come with it....man, please.

It looks like their best OOC wins were
Maryland (N) (#177)
Maryland (N) (#177)
@ Texas (#36)
@ Texas (#36)
Colorado State (N) (#93)
Notre Dame (#37)
Notre Dame (#37)
@ NCSU (#109)
@ NCSU (#109)
UC Davis (N) (#137)
UC Davis (N) (#137)
@ Fresno St (#47)
Idaho State (N) (#194)
Troy (#115)
FAU (#52)
@ LSU (#14)
Illinois St (#57)
Seattle U (#201)
Seattle U (#201)
South Dakota (#203)
@ Oregon State (#46)
@ Cal (#24)
@ Pacific (#112)
@ Pacific (#112)
Lost 2 times to Washington in Seattle
In addition, they went 6-1 against #27 Illinois, #35 Ohio State and #45 Wisconsin. They didn't play Michigan.
That isn't murderers row, but that's a pretty decent OOC schedule. I get them not being a national seed, but not getting a Top 16 seed? That's silly. They got hosed.

Something else is on the line.
Forget home regional, since the implementation of the Super Regional format over a decade ago, Alabama is the ONLY team to advance through regionals every single year.

Yep - no shame in losing to them in Seattle

Statement from the NCAA Softball selection committee:

Yea, makes sense, especially considering the entire SEC is in the Top 33 of the RPI. So, 80% of Alabama's games are against Top 20 RPI teams. Minnesota played like 8.
It basically makes the overall record moot when comparing it to teams whose only losses are against other Top 15-20 RPI teams (like basically everyone in the SEC).
Here are Alabama's games vs teams outside the Top 25 of the RPI
vs #145 Towson (W)
@ #106 Coastal Carolina (W)
vs #145 Towson (W)
vs #200 Youngstown State (W)
@ #106 Coastal Carolina (W)
vs #54 South Alabama (W)
vs #83 North Florida (W)
vs #60 UCF (W)
vs #136 Texas Tech (W)
vs #239 Gardner-Webb (W)
vs #136 Texas Tech (W)
vs #60 UCF (W)
@ #143 UAB (W)
vs #126 Jacksonville (W)
vs #131 Drake (W)
vs #81 Stanford (W)
vs #131 Drake (W)
vs #126 Jacksonville (W)
vs #142 Loyola-Chicago (W)
vs #207 Valparaiso (W)
vs #33 Arkansas (W)
vs #33 Arkansas (W)
vs #33 Arkansas (W)
vs #150 Winthrop (W)
vs #117 Georgia Southern (W)
@ #30 Mississippi St (W)
@ #30 Mississippi St (L)
@ #30 Mississippi St (W)
vs #87 Kent St (W)
@ #31 Missouri (L)
@ #31 Missouri (W)
@ #31 Missouri (L)
vs #143 UAB (W)
vs #101 Southern Miss (W)
vs #208 Samford (W)
vs #33 Arkansas (W)
So, we are 33-3 vs teams outside the Top 25 with all 3 losses being to teams ranked #30 and #31 on the road.
So we are 33-0 vs teams ranked below #32. So, it makes sense. Winning all your games against bad teams really doesn't mean much in softball.

We'll find out this weekend how good/bad they are... Our girls better show up because it's likely Minnesota has been fueled by what they might considered getting shafted

1-0 wins all the way to Oklahoma City!

1-0 all the way to the WCWS Final might mess with my heart more than the CFP playoffs.

Man, the talking heads are all bitching about how Minnesota got hosed. Those girls are going to have something to prove.
