re: The Big 12 might boycott Texas Tech this year per Ross Dellenger

I kind of wonder if TTU went along with letting Sorsby take his case to court, expecting that the judge would side with the NCAA and that Sorsby being ruled permanently ineligible would've given them grounds to void all of his NIL contracts and not have to pay him.
Tech had no choice to go along with this. They have one of the most expensive rosters in cfb even without Sorsby. Without a QB this year’s team would just be a repeat of 2025. Destroy overmatched conference opponents then get boat raced in the playoffs.

Is there anything preventing a rival from getting a friendly judge to bar Sorsby from playing in his district?

frick that guy
How about having an ounce of integrity and not circling the wagons for a QB who crossed the biggest red line in all of sport?

The CFP isn’t controlled by the NCAA. The CFP voters could keep TTU out of the playoffs but the NCAA doesn’t have any teeth here.
Sure, but the CFP would then have to stomach putting in a team that went 0-12 and indirectly support players gambling on college football. I don't think they would do it. Furthermore, if the NCAA said they were invalidating the games he plays in, I don't think Tech would play him.
The courts say these guys can play because you are harming them by making millions. I get that. I still don't get what that has to do with the NCAA just saying, "ok you're playing with an ineligible player. You lose"
Is Tom Mars on the board? Can he chime in?

I still don't understand how this works in practice. Ok, a judge says you can play football and make your NIL money, I get that, but what prevents the NCAA from just invalidating any game he plays in?

What is the point of the NCAA denying eligibility anymore? It just seems like a waste of time and money on their part.
Two top 10 teams this season will be playing with QBs who have no business playing college football.

Both are trips worth taking. Auburn fans are really nice. That’s my takeaway every time I go.
Tennessee has more than a few bad apples that can dampen the experience.

Wes Johnson was known as one of the premier pitching coaches in the country but his UGA teams seem to have no pitching depth and just mash the hell out of the ball.
Graduated on a Friday and was sitting in new employee orientation on Monday.

I'm guessing this is related to some sort of rewards program the bettor is trying to achieve or maintain.

It will be hard to top the 2023 CWS field. That group was loaded.

I avoided all spoilers and all reviews to go in knowing nothing about this movie. I went a see this afternoon. It was cute enough but these two reviews sum up exactly what I felt leaving.
The movie very much felt like two mando episodes put on the big screen. I liked it but I have nothing really good to say about it. Embo was badass. Grogu is exactly where the show left him, he hasn’t advanced at all. I’m not a Pedro pascal fan but mando’s fight scenes were the highlight. Weaver felt so out of place in this movie like they brought her in just to have some type of homage name for Alien.
Just saw it. Well said. I was entertained.
Having said that, I have no idea what Disney was thinking making this movie. This may have had a chance when Mando was at its peak.
It seems like they could’ve cut the budget in some places and just sent this thing directly to Disney+.

How do you do this with NIL? When it’s making money on your own? SEC/Big10 teams (and Texas Tech and Notre Dame) will not follow the rules. They’ll circumvent the rules like they did the last hundred years and pay players under the table
Harsh penalties. How many shady deals do you think get done after a power program gets slapped with a two-year playoff ban? That's literally all it would take to get people to fall in line. Schools willing to pay players under the table were not afraid of the consequences.

So how do we determine market value after they’ve used the 1 transfer, will they just sit out if a team says they aren’t paying? What about if the coach transfers?
They are free to exercise the sit out a season option that worked for many years. You could create a waiver for when coaches leave. This may even encourage schools to stick with coaches longer, thus saving themselves from these preposterous buyouts.
Killing the free for all portal would go a long way in curbing out of control NIL as well.
Poor people are experts at staying poor
- Hard cap
- 1x transfer
- 5 for 5 (clock starts no later than 19 regardless of when you graduate HS)
would fix almost every existential problem college sports are facing
It sucks the government has to get involved, but without some sort of intervention, these athletic programs are going to bankrupt themselves and take the institutions down with them.

Let's say, hypothetically, the school doesn't want the coach to stay until the season ends.
Watched the first two eps with the wife. I am sort of over the horror mystery thing that streaming services pump out, but this show is helped by a good cast. Will see it through.

No doubt. You can go stay at a top tier Cancun all inclusive resort with 100x the amenities for what you're paying to stay on the gulf coast.

Well, not exactly. Earning the majority of that money in CA, he's probably bringing home half of it. Then his agent(s) are getting their cut as well, so I can see, from his perspective, why that $34 million matters a heck of a lot.
That payout will probably be close to 25% of his take home career earnings.
I'm don't feel sorry for him. He's still living better than 99.9% of people in this world.

Little surprised State got to host. I get it, RPI RPI RPI, but only winning 4/10 conference series and stacking wins against the bottom of the league doesn't feel like a top 16 type of season.
