Planning to go for a week in May and know nothing about the area. Looking for something under $500 a night preferably. Also any sight seeing or restaurant suggestions are more than welcome.

Cosmo is my favorite right now. Centrally located, new, swank as frick.

So centrally meaning the middle of the strip?

I forgot you lived there.

Not really the middle of the strip, close.

More centrally located in the good stuff. North Strip stinks right now and far south (Mandalay Bay-ish) is too far from everything. You want to be able to walk to most things.

It's an awesome place and you can likely get a pretty well upgraded room at $500/night.

What's walking distance considered there? I've always heard it's really spread out.

Yeah, I'm looking at their site now. Looks really nice.

Most of the casinos have some real estate associated with them. The Cosmopolitan is squeezed into a small spot so it's easy to get out of, plus you're right next door to the Crystals Mall/Aria, which has a monorail to Monte Carlo and Bellagio. It's all pretty well spread, but the casinos all put the parking garages at the rear of the properties, so you usually have a longer walk through the resorts to get to the strip when you want to if you drive.

You'll need a car for sure, but the ability to avoid getting the car to go to a lot of the cooler places will help.

Walking does involve a lot of distance, but it's like city walking, there's a lot of stuff to look at and see so it doesn't seem as long as it really is.

ETA: And parking at the Cosmo is underground so you pop up from the garage right into the casino without any walking.

New York-New York. Great place and a pedestrian bridge crosses over the strip to the MGM Grand. You won't go wrong here.

Sold. I can walk for miles as long as I'm distracted.

Seriously, thanks for the help. That was quick. Booking the Cosmo.

Can't believe you're going to support one of these gambling halls. Don't you know how harmful gambling is? shite should be illegal.

Doubt they'd pick up on it.

I haven't been in a couple of years, but Aria was nice then.
Best thing I did was take a helicopter thing into the Grand Canyon. Loved it with champagne picnic with my lady friend. Ive done the GC from all sides and directions and this was one of the coolest.
