Kiffin's Mom: Praying for Guardian Angel(s)

She just keeps on suppling the lulz:
Don't recall any effigy but that one might've happened somewhere, sometime or she could've heard that one repeated and gotten it confused with Saban's return to LSU.
As for the batteries, that's one I've never heard happening here. I have heard that we've thrown those plastic cups, mini liquor bottles and oranges before on occasion but that's really it and I seem to recall a basketball game where we threw rolls of toilet paper and fans got the team a technical.
Anyhoo: LINK

Lane Kiffin's mother tells TMZ Sports ... she's so worried about her son returning to Tennessee that she's "praying for a guardian angel" to keep him safe when Alabama takes on UT this weekend.
We spoke with Robin Kiffin ... who tells us simply, "I'm a mom. We worry." Of course, fans of the University of Tennessee went berserk when Lane quit his job as their head football coach back in 2009 (after less than a year) for USC. People even hung Lane in effigy at the time. And now with Lane returning to the campus as the offensive coordinator for Alabama, Robin tells us "I'm praying for a guardian angel ... a host of guardian angels."
"This is stressful. I've heard such horror stories ... people throwing batteries."
Robin says she's not planning to attend the game -- but will watch it on TV. She's also confident Lane is staying focused despite the media frenzy.
"I text Lane 'good luck' each week. If I said anything different this week, he would say I'm being ridiculous."

Wouldn't surprise me at all if Kiffin gets decapitated.
Without a "head," Kiffin is just a dick.

Other than boos and an F U Kiffin chant from the student section nothing is going to happen. For the most part Tennessee fans are pretty civil people. The media has blown this up, not the Tennessee people. It's been five years, we have have our own problems to be stressed out about. We've got 99 problems but Alabama's OC ain't one.

Would be so great for him to get pelted with a balloon full of piss

I agree. We've been a pretty damned polite and mellow group for several decades. I think a lot of it has to do with Knoxville and E. TN, in particular, just being that way culturally (much of the state is that way as well). Sure we have our redneck drunks who get pissy/wanna fight but they're far fewer than in most places and even those typically stick to being assholes. And the politeness/hospitality even extends to most of the state.
We've always been complimented on how we treat visitors IRL both by SEC fans and by OOC fans who are often just blown away by it.

I admit it would be funny as hell but I doubt very much it will happen. That said, our student section has been wild this year so who knows? I still doubt it tho' - ice from cups, FU taunts, maybe mini bottles/plastic cup, are the most I really expect. I agree with psk that this has been blown up far more than reality. Hell the so-called student riot footage showed kids laughing and bemoaning what had happened - they didn't even know what to chant (they tried several) and it was really more a festive event than folks realize albeit one that came from bad circumstances. What that footage never showed was true anger let alone rage.
Nothing remotely bad happened that night and it was never dangerous. Just students in shock with a great sense of gallows humor about what had taken place.

You Vols just think you're angry. Just wait until half-time when Lane plans to run out on the field and take a big dump on the 50 year line.

Now THAT would get even the 50-yard line blue hairs riled enough to act out. Might even get the ultra richies in the press box to come down and throw things. Impaling Kiffin on a goalpost might even be an option.

She should be praying for Blake Sims to play well on the road.

As I mentioned in the other thread. Have Dooley come out and start calling plays in crimson pants once Bama has it out of reach. :coco2:

Don't think the klan is as active in Tennessee as it is in Louisiana.
