SEC is cleaning house at DT this year. Names listed are all of the 5* DTs outside of Green, who is from Cali. The rest of the names listed will most likely attend SEC schools. Let's see how you rank them.

McKenzie/Thompson - interchangable, but I think those 2 are on a planet of their own

Mack

Payne

Tuttle

Can't forget Julian Rochester and Edwin Alexander for 2016 either. Both are top 10 overall in next years class.

I like him better. For a 3T, I put a lot of stock into the 1st step. Boy is quick.

McKenzie is the best DT in this year's class, which is really saying something.

Mack and McKenzie move so well to be so big. Both are going to have huge impacts. Honestly i think Trent Thompson fit better in Auburn's defense, but a recruit choosing where they really want to be over fit is admirable.

I would take Mack over Payne and Tuttle. But Payne fits Alabama's defense the best.

The longer he takes, the less likely. Even with his brother going to UGA now.

True, I have seen film of every big DT in this class. If you want a penetrating insanely quick DT your 2 choices are Mack and Thompson. Both are incredible talents. I like Thompson slightly better but I am biased. Mckenzie is just an absolute stud. He is strong, powerful, unblockable machine that is just made to play DT.

I would probably take Thompson over Mckenzie because the inside terror he will wreak is going to be a lot of fun but it's really a tossup. Mckenzie is a fricking monster with an insane motor.

My rankings

Thompson
Mckenzie
Mack
Green
Payne
Settle
Tuttle

The first two are really interchangeable because I am huge fan of KM. He is going to be tough to deal with in the future.

I've been wondering how UT pulled a five star from Cali, didn't realize his dad was a former Vol. Good to see UGA and UT recruit well, it's good for the league.

I don't think Settle is up there with that group. I think he'd be the best of the group after.

Thompson, McKenzie, and Mack are the best three IMO. IMO, Mack has limited upside because of his frame, but he's a very explosive athlete so it's tough to imagine that he won't be a great college player.

McKenzie, to me, is the more developed of he and Thompson. You can tell he's been coached well and has had a good bit of strength training. I don't think he has the natural burst that Thompson and Mack have off the ball. He's probably the best of the three as of right now, IMO.

Thompson is dripping with upside. He's tall, big, violent, naturally strong and explosive. He's very raw in his technique and still has baby fat. College coaching and strength training will eventually make him the best of the three IMO. He has all the tools you can't teach.

As to the comment about Thompson's fit in UGA's scheme 1) UGA is in 4-man front the majority of the time, and will be even moreso with Pruitt. 2) Timmy Jernigan was a beast for FSU this year in Pruitt's scheme. 3) 6'4" 310 lb athletes are a fit in any scheme. The idea that DT's cant succeed in a 3 man front is a myth.
