NIU hasn’t faced an SEC team since 2008 when they lost to Tennessee 13-9 in Knoxville. The Huskies are 1-9 against the SEC, with their lone win a 19-16 upset of Alabama in Tuscaloosa in 2003.
Most of NIU’s seven losses to the SEC came in the 1990's, and most weren’t close except for three tussles with Vanderbilt.
But since 2008, NIU has an overall record of 59-23 and has claimed two MAC titles and five division titles. During that period they beat Iowa, Purdue (twice), Kansas, and Minnesota.

If they can't beat the Hogs this year then they don't need to bother playing anybody in the SEC

NIU can be a pain in the but some years, but most years you beat them handily.

I could see us taking them up on it if the guy wants it bad enough. Jones has been in the MAC and it would be a better game than the Austin Peay level cupcake. We've already got the harder OOCs scheduled so that's not an issue for us.

that was the first football game I ever wagered on....
We sucked, but that back for NIU that year was definitely a beast.

From their standpoint it is - they get exposure and can pull better recruits for their team against other teams in their league. If you're a MAC coach being able to tell a kid we have a premier game lined up, you'll be on TV and playing against the SEC, that is a great recruiting bonus.

NIU wasn't shite with Jordan Lynch and they certainly won't be shite without him.

I was there. If I remember right they had an RB named Michael Turner that turned out to be pretty good. And they ended up 10-2.
